Just put him at half back on a bloke and let him be a top line half backer. He has played well there this year. The first half of the freo game just 3 weeks ago he was the most dominant player on the ground. Since they threw him into the midfield against GWS he has had his confidence sapped and now is no good anywhere.
He is a completely different player in size and skillset to Dangerfield. Comparing the two is silly.
Compare Dangerfield to Judd.
hold it a minute!
Judd and Dangerfield are not the only type of midfielder going around.
so it's Judd like or bust!
midfield is a mosaic that whey placed together is a great piece of work!
if all Gibbs is is just another half back flank player I'm going to throw tomatoes at Hughes!
what we need to do is get the right mix and mindset.
we play uncontested football cos we were allowed to play that way
Throw your tomatoes and get on with it i say.
He will be one of the best if the not the best HBF in the comp. He will win contests there too. Plenty and they will be important to the team.
He is never going to be a hardball in an under + zippy onballer winning contests in congested packs moving the ball forward with purpose.
Cory Enright type off half back is it.
So he went No1 in a draft.....move on. Blame the recruiters if you're not happy and get on with it. Its not like he is a dud (playing like the last 2 weeks but he is not).
Anyone would have to be pretty naive to think that a number one pick in any draft will end up being the best in that draft if it was taken again 5 years later. La la land stuff.
Trying to turn him into something he isn't is just plain silly and time wasting.
