The main problem is gettig the ball. You cant drop playes when there is little to bring in.
I would drop Russell and Duigan who were awful and bring in Lucas and Thornton.
Play Lucas as the loose man in defence
Play Thornton in attack
Gibbs up forward
as third tall
Joseph to play on Sloane or Dangerfield. He is better tagging mids and wont be scared getting his shorts dirty in the middle.
Play Waite as the second ruckman when Jacobs has a rest. Overrated player is Waite but this roll could free him up.
Hammer as first ruckman
Want to see Kreuzer play as a midfielder. He has the tank to do this.
He also could be more than handy in the middle with his big body and his courage.
Eddie needs some time in the middle during the game. A couple of short 5 minute bursts. he is excellent at extracting the ball from congestion.
Ellard starts in the centre
Dont play McLean
Whatever you think of this one thing is for certain we need to do something different.
Sounds weird but the fact is if the coaching staff go in with the same personal in the middleas last week we will get creamed
Bit of a scatter gun approach there Keogh. A lot of hoping.
I want to see smaller and better ball handlers in the back half supporting Henda and Jamo. Once the ball hits the ground we are shaky.
Get Gibbs in the backline and team him up with Yaz. Throw touhy in and lets gobble up them loose balls and start attacking. They can also keep up better on the counter attacks.
Tighten up around the packs and dont let it out so easy. On our terms or another stoppage. Might mean us taking less risks in there but so be it. I reckon i have just saved us 6 goals against right there.
Engage the clogged up footy style and slog it out with them. Move the ball forward to 70m out then kick it deep to the space behind our last forward. No more shallow entries from 85m out. They get rebounded too easy and in the worse possible way with our players streaming forward.
Dont throw the baby out with the bathwater. Small adjustments in tactics ,attitude and form and we can slog it out with the best of them. Make last monday night a learning experience and a turning point. We can knuckle down and play tight games when we set ourselves for them. We have done it in the past. We didnt do too bad against freo, Sydney in Sydney last year and the big final in WA with men down we put up a top showing. Prepare like that for this week and really set ourselves for a tough game.
