the question remains.
how will we get our hands on the ball and given time to spread and do what we were doing when we are swarmed in the midfield?
simply saying desire is not good enough.
when players are conditioned to play a certain way and the opposition have shut that down on them they look to the coach for answers.
when it is not addressed, they lose confidence.
which you are Seeing now.
there needs to be a change in structure and a more balanced game plan.
bombers are getting their hands on the pill. they proved that with us. we are not!
so can't compare what the bombers are doing with what we are doing.
we need to first find a way to find the pill and work backwards from there.
that's simple planning.
won't happen by following what we have been doing but rearranging the deck chairs.
I agree with that and think i addressed it in my earlier post. I suggest we take a bit of risk taking out of our movement away from stoppages. It has crept in with frustration caused by the congestion. It is not working and leaves open out the back. I say we engage in the arm wrestle. Get involved in the congestion ourselves and embrace it. Get intense in there like we did in the last part of the third when everything started to look pretty good. If we can handle that and get in front they will have to adjust to get some score and then it is played on our terms.
No need to smash up our gameplan and start again. Just tweak it and the players attitudes. Start by limiting their score and letting them know we are not fussed about what they are doing. Learn to love it. Forget about the super dash from the stoppage until we break them.
A question to you Synbad. Do you think crows will throw their gameplan out the window to hunt us? or will they stick to whats been working for them? I think the hunter types sit about mid table and have nothing to lose. I dont think the crows will do what lyon does or what the GWS and Saints did ( i reckon bombers did something different). I think the Crows have their own plan and wont want to change it too much. That is where i think we will get them.
Against saints we were getting first touch from the ruck but we kept giving it back trying to be too dashing or just plain fumbling.
- Lift the intensity and energy.
- Be tighter in the bubble defensively. Keep it locked in if we cant get out on our terms.
- cut back on the risk taking a tad on the way out of stoppages. Its not coming off. we keep giving it back in the worse possible circumstances.
- Play a quicker backline with better ground level skills.
- Do our very best to get infront early to get them to adjust their game if they want to pack the stoppages.
Its not all doom and gloom. A couple of big wins and we are back in the frame for top4.
