Isn't that what the Essendon* loss was supposed to do? We've been shitful ever since, they didn't learn a thing. We're lucky we've got 2 wins from 4 shithouse games. Ive always been very positive and patient but for the first time in years I'm worried about where we're going. Our top draft picks are all hitting peak age and experience. Judd is still at his peak but it can't last forever. It's hard to see how the list is going to get much better before it gets worse tbh. Not a lot of young ones coming through at the moment is there?

I never react like this. I've been patient for years because we've been improving consistently. But this year we needed to take the next step. It's not good enough to come 5th again. I let the Essendon* game go as an off day to learn from. But we haven't. We look like we've gone backwards from last year.

Seriously disillusioned right now. Holding on to the fact that the team that played so well against collingwood was only a month a ago. Feels like a lifetime ago

It doesn't make me awesome. I'm just making a comment.......... your making it 'personal'.........which means your just resorting to abuse and personal attacks because you have nothing 'worthwhile' to say.
You know i'm right.

Oh,.........and to answer your question............... I put $25 on em.

OH - and I did actually have a wank today........(then had sex when the missus got home............ twice)

As some of the posts here already highlight ....... we got smashed in the clearances (read centre clearances). I don't give a s#1t about how many tap outs we won it's all about clearances.

The ball was bounced,
someone (didn't matter who) won the tap,
sometimes the Saints cleared it on the first attempt
if Carlton happened to get it first then the ball got bounced a second time because the Saints would force another ball-up
The ball was bounced a second time
the Saints cleared

The Saint defenders were never under pressure from a centre clearance.

The GWS game last week wasn't much better !!!!!!

The opposition are always going to smother us in the centre. Let's vary it a bit. Let's try the odd 20-30 metre punch every now and then just to be different. Let's try the grab and kick from the ruckman. Let's try something different. Clearances .......It's all about being on the front foot.

Ratten said last week (after the GWS game) that there were players who didn't take their chances ... but he still picked them and they failed once again.

I agree with an earlier post that we had the chance to get away from them in the first quarter but didn't take it ... it appears that we cannot "seize it".

With top spot ... repeat TOP SPOT up for grabs, you would like to think that are players would throw everything at getting that opportunity. We have failed again when we an expectation was before us. Too many with fragile minds.

It seems as if we are all forgetting about Bryce Gibbs. His efforts shown in the previous month or so have been nothing short of pathetic.

Yes ..... tonight proved that we are not mentally tough enough to take that next step. The test was there ..... we failed.

I fear we are in danger of becoming the next Doggies. We have 2 major problems we need to address.

1. Not enough mongrel or toughness. Apart from Robbo, not enough hard nuts in the side. Generally the side is fairly introverted, there is no fear factor there. In the 90s we had strong leaders as well as tough nuts, we don't have that yet.

2. Lack of key forwards. We need to get a Casboult or Mitchell into the side sooner rather than later, its becoming more and more obvious that Waite as the only tall forward makes us too hit and miss, and very dubious when the pressure is right on in games.

We have a fair few players out of form in a big way (Jamo, Gibbs, Duigan, Garlett, Russell) and battlers in Joseph, Ellard (who was good) and Curnow.

Im actually trying to think, who has actually gone forward from last year in our side? Hampson perhaps? Robinson? Hendo?

Plenty of time to get it right, but I think we are seeing that the current make up of the side needs to be tweaked, to include a 2nd forward and be more ruthless. I don't know why we seem complacent so often, its not like we have really achieved anything.

im making myself look like an idiot now but people like you really piss me off

you were basically celebrating the loss in everyones faces on here - most people here are hurting - and you laughed and wanted a pat on the back that you backed the opposition?

its just really poor form

For football, probably, but don't underestimate our ability to be subliminally aware of our own weaknesses. Some teams don't give a s*** and play accordingly. As individuals, we read alright on paper but it's not a good mix in practice.

I have not, tonight for me is the straw that has broken the camels back. Seems to be playing to ensure a lengthy career by never getting injured, which is made possible by avoiding body contact whenever possible.

He hasn't always been like this, but since the Pies game he has been in cruise control. I have seen him get the hard ball before, now he is playing like the squib opposition supporters have always told us he was.

very ordinary strategically and slow learners
ratts and co. you have one week to beat the midfield congestion tactic
just when you think it's safe to believe in this team they let it slip through there fingers
very little positives to take from that

At the minute it looks like the Pies game was a false dawn. We looked to have improved on last year, and our pressure was relentless that day. We didn't appear to have a weakness. Sheesh its gone pear shaped in a hurry !!

Doesn't help us that we can't get any of the KPPs we drafted on the park......Watson (no good), McCarthy, Mitchell, Levi (inj and no good). We're crying out for a genuine talented KPP to step up, but sadly that looks light years away. For now we have to rely on the erratic Waite, Hammer who's still learning but showing som ething, T-Bird who's a stop gap fwd, and Kreuz for a cameo.
