oh and Mr c not one person would say they won their flags because of the flanker types you listed over their midfield depth.
Spin it anyway you want Wells knows his priorities.
Just as a matter of interest, what exactly could have / should have we done?
Even more to the point, what is it exactly we should we be doing to make these things right?
Didn't we recruit Yarran with the view of developing him as a mid-fielder when many wanted a tall?
Didn't we recruit Lucas when most wanted Talia, to bolster our back stocks?
Which year exactly did our recruiters get it so wrong, do you think?
Not Bootsma again, surely?
One year ago, most had Essendon* well in front of us in terms of coaches, players, club etc.
Their youth was touted as being superior to ours and they were much closer to a premiership than we were.
Is that how you see it or do we just go back to Geelongs situation because they won the premiership last year?
Do you think they'll go as well this year because of all the things they did right, or maybe take a backward step, because they couldn't possibly have as good a run with injuries and luck?
If Hawthorn had have got past Collingwood and then beat Geelong, would we be talking about the Hawks as doing everything right, whilst we're still floundering with all that we're doing?
Remember that Hawthorns recruiting department got things very wrong with Thorp, Dowler, Muston, Ellis and possibly Schoenmakers?
We could always do better but to suggest we should just get the best Coach, Recruiter, Adminstration, Players etc. just doesn't work that way.
With many having us top two this year, we can't really be doing everything wrong, could we?
Actually we took Yarran as a half forward and turned him into a half back flanker.
Look in order to win flags every post must be a winner.
Its all i care about... itd all i wanna know.
I wanna see flags..
If a team of half back flankers can buck the trend and win the flag ill be rapt.
But i think you need ball winners.
Cos ball winners get their hands on the ball and give you first use.
Half back flankers are usually a reactive lot.
Theyre not usually proficient at getting their hands on the ball first and giving you first use of the pill.
We shall see....
As far as im concerned never has a premiership been won with a team built around half back flankers..
We might be the first.. who knows?
Then we are inovators of footy and we do revolutionise the wheel.
Just call me "Thomas" on this one.
Half back flankers (THE EASY OPTION to recruit!!)
