This is a genuine question, not being mean or anything.
But what does Adrian Gleeson bring to our club as a board member ?
I would think out of the 5, Bear is one of two who would probably be in trouble...as for what he brings - you could ask the same thing of a number of board members, and in that regard - our board probably needs a little bit more transparency...not too much...but just a little bit which is easily done through the Comms department. I know football has changed immensely, but reading through the old annual reports (of which I collect), you get a great understanding of what each board member did and how it impacted the club. I would suggest very few members have an idea of what each board member does/is doing in an effort to assist the club going forward.
So let's get Ryan on here to talk about what he can bring to the board. He's said it's
'all about fresh ideas, not dissatisfaction with the existing board', so will be interesting what ideas he thinks can be implemented. Two years ago, the likes of Camelboy asked some great questions of Michael Spartels, some of which are still pertinent questions today.
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=26947Taking a look at who is up for re-election...
Jeanne Pratt - a no-brainer. She stays even though I view her role as a quasi-patron of the club. Obviously brings in money along with son-in-law Germinder, but as it stands, the Pratts own this football club by default... and that scenario can't last forever.
Adrian Gleeson - One of only 2 former players on the board. Doesn't bring in a great deal of money, but can afford to be a significant investor in a $5million film. If re-elected, will be 6 years as a board member, and I'd seriously question what he's done in that time.
Zac Fried - Is on the finance sub-committee. Proven capability he can bring money into the club.
Ari Suss - Has an impressive Government & Corporate Affairs background. Believed to be a good performer at board level.
Mark Harrison - A trustee of the Carlton Community Fund which looks promising as the years go by and ties into a lot of good work the club does. Is a director of Premier Finance Services, which I personally don't think has worked. Doesn't bring in a significant amount of money.
