Contact between Carlton's Jeremy Laidler and Essendon*'s Jake Melksham from the third quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. After viewing all available footage, it was determined that Laidler and Melksham were coming from opposite directions in pursuit of a loose ball. Carlton player Marc Murphy takes the ball ahead of Melksham as Laidler comes to the contest. The pair meet front-on, the action was not seen as a bumping action and the panel determined the high contact was accidental and was not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.
