David Hille deserved it apparently.

Laidler was issued an apology for wasting his time and best wishes for the weekend.

Stuff all in that. He appeared to make contact with Hille's upper arm/shoulder based on the video in that clip. :sly:

Ridiculous report but I don't understand why players don't go for the smother. It would be more in the teams interest. :?

Correct decision but on the positive side, it did deny Reimers another mark on the stats.

Thanks Geelong

As I said in another thread, I thought the bump on Hille was absolutely fine. However, did anyone see the bump Laidler put on Melksham later in the game? Melksham went down holding his head and looking a bit groggy. I thought that one looked worrisome, but no one else has even mentioned it….?

They looked at both:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

Contact between Carlton's Jeremy Laidler and Essendon*'s David Hille from the first quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from Essendon*, the panel determined that the majority of contact was made to player Hille's shoulder, with minimal high contact. The force used for the high contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Contact between Carlton's Jeremy Laidler and Essendon*'s Jake Melksham from the third quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. After viewing all available footage, it was determined that Laidler and Melksham were coming from opposite directions in pursuit of a loose ball. Carlton player Marc Murphy takes the ball ahead of Melksham as Laidler comes to the contest. The pair meet front-on, the action was not seen as a bumping action and the panel determined the high contact was accidental and was not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.
