I've really noticed this year that Ratts' media skills have improved out of sight. He used to revert to the old ask the rhetorical question and then answer it. It was kind of like a nervous back-up line when questioned. This year, no question has had him stumped, he answers with personality and confidence as well as towing the company line. Good work.
The next step is to lift his enthusiasm a little bit with the way he speaks. If anyone has watched a Rex Ryan (coach of the NY Jets) press conference, you will know the standard of excitement that can be reached. He is the best at it.
Speaking of which, good old Chris Bryan is now their punter.
Hmmm, I agree he is more comfortable in the media which is a plus but I'm not sure he's getting much better.
I reckon it's got a lot to do with how your team is going which dictates how relaxed and confident you can be and how much people actually bother to listen to you. Rats is enjoying his first 'successful' year as coach and hes getting some respect for it. It all seems like wisdom if you're winning! He is more relaxed but I'm not sure he saying anything that exciting or insightful....? I'm not a huge fan of the way he communicates but he does seem to have a 'what you see is what you get' quality. Good luck to him.
