All the bullshit is annoying me guys we are not Richmond we are Carlton .We are a top 8 team not a top 4 team .IN SAYING THAT If I AM NOT MISTAKEN WE ARE STILL 4TH.Our list has improved since last year Duigan,Laidler, Curnow Kreuser but our players are only human + have bad days .We had a shit day .Remember the more you win the closer you are to a loss .Pies maybe great but they are not invincible sooner or later they will lose lets hope its this week Cheer up next week is another game Go bLUES

GARBAGE. If we are just a top 8 side, then we are going backwards!! As a wise man once said, "every side is 2 seasons away from a spoon or a flag" With the Saints and Dogs out of the picture, we were virtually presented with a top 4 spot on a platter this year.

Today was a shocker. Next week will be no better. Let's hope the 3 losses out of 4 that we will have had by next Sat night reflects our slump, and that we regroup for some quality Sept action.

I wonder how many have played 3 games or less? Tuohy, Watson, Austin, Joseph?

Thanks for that. It changed quickly. We've been on 36 for a couple of weeks now and others have jumped us. Collingwood have been on 31 since I first checked.

It's a real struggle to come to terms with that effort today.

Ratts made plenty of moves, few worked. Bower up forward rather than any of Hendo, Thornton or even Laidler is a real head scratcher. That's life. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

AJ was far from the worst today. Precedent dictates he gets dropped next week. You could find better candidates out there.

First time all year our defensive unit didn't work as a team. Duigan and Scotland can hold their head up high. The rest appeared to be more interested in their own man.

Lack of defensive pressure in the forward line was touted post game. I thought there was not a lot of it in the midfield. Our better players also the worst offenders in this regard. Tackles and shepherds were the worst I'd seen from a Carlton outfit in nigh on 6 years.

Do we miss Jamison or Hampson more? What a curious question...

Bulldogs upset Blues by 27 points

Murphy and Gibbs were dominating as their ruckmen Matthew Kreuzer and Shaun Hampson were having the better of Ben Hudson, who rallied in the second half.

Journos are really struggling with our lot this year aren't they?

Although normally they say Matthew Warnock intead of Robbie Warnock so extra points for having the COMPLETELY WRONG PLAYER.

Paul Bower, the person that a lot of people here have in their best team has the following stats:

Games Played: 59
Games Lost: 38
Percentage of Games Lost: 66.10%
Percentage of Games Won:33.90

Games Carlton Played since first playing PB:107
Games Lost: 58.5
Games Won: 48.5
Percentage of Games Lost: 54.67
Percentage of Games Won: 45.33

Carlton's Record without PB playing:
Games Played: 48
Games Lost: 20.5
Games Won: 27.5
Percentage of Games Lost: 42.71
Percentage of Games Won: 57.29

These stats don't lie, spin this anyway you like, he is overrated and when he plays we have a greater chance of losing and when he doesn't play we have a greater chance of winning.

Put those same stats on Murphy and Gibbs over their entire careers and you'll find they're useless as well. And Scotland and Simpson while you're at it.
If you want to make stats say something, it's pretty easy to find a way. Just find the biggest losing streak you can find and then prove every player in the team was a dud. Bower may not be the best player on the list but when he is fit, confident and backing himself, he does contribute a lot. Tonight he played in the forward fifty for most of the game. It isn't where he has played his best footy for us. He's just a kid. He'll either make it or he won't.

Simmo apparently went 4 weeks in a row with no possessions at all. Feed that into a stats machine and see how it comes out.

"Lies, lies and bloody statistics" (Don't know who said it first)

I dare you to do it on Murphy and Gibbs, do some research before spouting a garbage response. Simmo went three games without a touch, big deal, this isn't about him, nor is it about tonight in isolation. Overrate PB at your own risk.

C'mon kk, even you must admit it - blaming a loss on one player alone is a joke.

The loss tonight had as much to do with Paul Bower as the rain did to our kicking skills under the Etihad roof.

Very disappointing game. Went into it with too many injured, ill or sore players it seems. I knew we were in trouble when our forward setup consisted of Scotland, Bower and Thornton.
Turnovers killed us, our disposal was very poor at times.
Murphy was great as usual.
Umpiring was terrible, we got a good run early and the WB got the good run in the second half. The number or 50 metre penalties paid was a joke, only a couple of them were there.
At half time the person picked out in the crowd to win the game to Ireland was sitting 2 rows in front of me.

We won the hitouts 62-34 today, but I'd be interested to see what the clearance stats were like quarter by quarter.

Here's the hitout breakdown for each quarter:

15-11
12-8
18-6
17-9

We won it every quarter, but we got smashed at clearances in the second half. Are our taps good enough? On first viewing and looking at the stats, I'd say no.

Been out for a few hours and still haven't calmed down.

Absolutely filthy at our effort today.

And only 2 weeks after our 'wake up call' against the Eagles.

So much for our system/pressure and depth. Getting seriously exposed right now.

Both WCE and the Bullies set themselves for us and we simply couldn't cope. Making up the numbers on current form.

So, so disappointing.

People can mitigate away but a season full of promise is fast going south. That's my feelings right now.

Yeah, me too.

The Bulldogs had an obvious tactic at the stoppages today where they had a player running through at full pace from their defensive goalside. They won so many clearances to great effect by doing this regularly.

The worrying thing is that we seemed to do nothing about it and just kept getting picked off. I just reckon it was one of those days today...

Only thing is, we had 'one of those days' only 2 weeks ago.

I remember looking at the draw and thinking we'd have a few dud games around this time of year. Mid season, tired players, usual run at Etihad.
I hadn't banked on us losing Jamo, Waite, Curnow though.

It's a pity we don't have a bye in the next few weeks.

Oddly enough I found a stat on Twitter saying that something like out of the last 6 teams to play Richmond every single one has lost the following week.

And what's your point?

You know, a 1 in 100 year storm event can actually happen twice in a year. Crazy, but it's true!

Playing Richmond is similar to having a bye that explains that stat....

Ratts...Why did we not move Henderson forward and Bower back? Why?
And Yarran needed to be moved off Dahlhaus, he towelled him.

The Carlton coach also hinted the Blues may have to review their game-plan at Etihad Stadium after losses to West Coast and the Bulldogs at the ground in the previous three weeks.

"That is something we might have to look at too. Is it something to do with the ground, how are we using the ball? We will dive a bit deeper into that in the review," he said.
