We could have won that game if the umpires were onto the illegal WCE tactics.
Nah Bondi, while the umpiring was poor, they smashed us.
Houla`s miss just before half time was costly.
Yep that miss was costly. Another opportunity missed, like many more in the first Qtr.
I thought we were well beaten at the end of the day.
Apart from the result, I actually enjoyed the game given we had missing from our best 22: Hampson, Jamison, Waite, Duigan, Laidler, Robbo, Curnow and maybe Setanta (if he's better than Warnock or Austin...I think he is atm). I didn't realise we had that many missing.
IF, and I say IF, the umpires pulled up the opponent blatantly holding on to Juddy, (Kerr hanging from the arm...literally hanging from him in an attempt to pull him down, other times there was Selwood holding onto his jumper from behind, plus Kerr..bla bla bla whinge whinge whinge), the missed throw which gave them the goal to put them 3 goals up towards the end of the Qtr when we had momentum, then lost it...it's little things like those when the ball could have gone the other way for a goal to us, which really is an 8 point turnaround. Lets say 3 x 8 is 24 points...well we could've been in front at 3/4 time instead of 5 goals down.
I'm not sore at losing, not at all, unless we lose 4th spot to WCE. It's just the way it is. We are still Carlton circa 2011 and if injuries are kind to us come finals we will still give it a hell of a shot (at the flag).
But I agree that the way the game went thereafter in the last, their 3/4 time score was enough to beat us. We were beaten convincingly in the end.
Lets not bury the efforts of the team. Sure there were a few down on previous weeeks, but hey, there is good reason for it and I'm sure everyone Navy Blue did learn somehing yesterday to help us with our surge towards No 17.
Some of the posts are a bit tough on the players and on the team, and on the MC and on the coach.
Get real, were were desimated by injury. We had 8 missing, a mid recovering from concussion (perhaps shoul not have played), Judd had the flu, a few umpiring decisions, our AA FB goes down injured, a few players playing less than a handful of games, a rookie, Austin's first game for years....you see all that adds up, and catches up.
We will recover from injury, we will regain our mojo, this was a wake up call, we still want to be successful in 2011.
We are still going to give the it a shake this year. Watch this space.
You're next in the line of fire Richmond. Skin a tiger this weekend...just watch and see.
And after that is the Doggies.
