Understandably, Kreuzer had a very poor game as well. One of the poorest of his career. No marks. 6 hitouts. He will continue to be inconsistent for the remainder of the season.

I didn't think Judd was held that much - I'm yet to see a replay, and probably won't, but I thought the Eagles did more blocking and clumsy arm and leg movements to just 'get in Judd's way'.

The midfield needed to be more alert to the fact that both Priddis and Kerr would stand in front of Judd at the stoppage and with Selwood in his pocket - Judd would instigate the arm movements. Both Priddis and Kerr found separation from Judd at the stoppage and did plenty of damage while Selwood went about his clumsy way....it was good tagging.

Judd needed a bit more protection. We've been guilty of this in the past. Now with Murphy being equally dominant, it would seem that we've reverted to the 'if Judd doesn't get it - then Murphy will' mentality and AFAIK, that doesn't cut it.

I just looked at the finals draw & finishing 5th is not great especially if WCE finish 4th, winner of 5v8 plays the loser of 1v4 at 1v4's home venue.

Will be a very interesting finish to the year

I'm also hearing Jamo will miss 4 weeks....

We need some talls back ASAP....Waite, Bower, Irish.

WC gave us a taste at the stoppages as what to expect in the finals - Finals football is always different there is always a lot of blocking and holding that goes on off the ball and let go by the umpires - Players have to learn to deal with it

they flooded back into our forward fifty didn't allow and space and managed to maintain their structure and kept Glass and Mackenzie deep - he was a big unit not affraid to go for his marks - they had an open forward line with their big targets - A lot of shots on goal came straight from a the centre clearance because we lacked that big body presence that Hammer was providing

they denied us the switch by manning the backs and kept us to one side of the ground

really missed Robbo and Duigan and Hammer and to a lesser extent Curnow - these blokes follow up the ball and hit the contest hard

Still think in that opening quarter we had our chances to hurt them as they had the yips at the other end
Forward 50 entries were terrible and we scrubbed to many balls on the ground and there were at least 4-5 scoring chances that went begging - Set the stage for the game and we were playing catch up footy after that

Jamo out for any length of time is a HUGE setback to our top 4 chances.

Another kick to the guts after yesterday’s effort. Was hoping our systems and structures would allow us to acquit ourselves a helluva lot better than we did despite our missing personnel.

A week ago we were talked about as a legitimate premiership contender. How quickly it can turn.

So if Jamo is out, Hendo stays back and Waite plays forward?

Hendo might find that the backline will be his domain for the rest of this year, I was impressed with his one on ones with JK yesterday in the second half.

Waite can't come back soon enough, with Kruze floating in & out of there & walks & the 2 indigenous fellas crumbing.

The boys were flat, they know it & I'm certain they'll redeem themselves come Saturday.

Nah Bondi, while the umpiring was poor, they smashed us.
Houla`s miss just before half time was costly.

Yep that miss was costly. Another opportunity missed, like many more in the first Qtr.

I thought we were well beaten at the end of the day.

Apart from the result, I actually enjoyed the game given we had missing from our best 22: Hampson, Jamison, Waite, Duigan, Laidler, Robbo, Curnow and maybe Setanta (if he's better than Warnock or Austin...I think he is atm). I didn't realise we had that many missing.

IF, and I say IF, the umpires pulled up the opponent blatantly holding on to Juddy, (Kerr hanging from the arm...literally hanging from him in an attempt to pull him down, other times there was Selwood holding onto his jumper from behind, plus Kerr..bla bla bla whinge whinge whinge), the missed throw which gave them the goal to put them 3 goals up towards the end of the Qtr when we had momentum, then lost it...it's little things like those when the ball could have gone the other way for a goal to us, which really is an 8 point turnaround. Lets say 3 x 8 is 24 points...well we could've been in front at 3/4 time instead of 5 goals down.

I'm not sore at losing, not at all, unless we lose 4th spot to WCE. It's just the way it is. We are still Carlton circa 2011 and if injuries are kind to us come finals we will still give it a hell of a shot (at the flag).

But I agree that the way the game went thereafter in the last, their 3/4 time score was enough to beat us. We were beaten convincingly in the end.

Lets not bury the efforts of the team. Sure there were a few down on previous weeeks, but hey, there is good reason for it and I'm sure everyone Navy Blue did learn somehing yesterday to help us with our surge towards No 17.

Some of the posts are a bit tough on the players and on the team, and on the MC and on the coach.

Get real, were were desimated by injury. We had 8 missing, a mid recovering from concussion (perhaps shoul not have played), Judd had the flu, a few umpiring decisions, our AA FB goes down injured, a few players playing less than a handful of games, a rookie, Austin's first game for years....you see all that adds up, and catches up.

We will recover from injury, we will regain our mojo, this was a wake up call, we still want to be successful in 2011.

We are still going to give the it a shake this year. Watch this space.
You're next in the line of fire Richmond. Skin a tiger this weekend...just watch and see.
And after that is the Doggies.

And that's a good thing.
We need to taste finals simulated contests as much as we can prior to the finals this season.
The one thing we have to consider is the number of injuries we had (8) compared to the WCE (0).
Lets hope we get our main personnel on the park asap. Jamo really hurts.

Not much mention in the media of us being below strength yesterday due to 5 of last week's starting 22 not playing. I guess people were just hanging for us to lose a game, and have been too busy reveling in our stuff up. Only Essendon* has injuries..
Also, after yesterday display, is anyone lamenting us picking Watson ahead of Darling. Not saying I am, just putting the question out there..

Houlihan's role in the team has been as a defensive forward.
But in todays footy if you have that role it is not enough to just keep your man quiet.
Houilhan doesnt run hard enough doesnt tackle enough and more importantly doesnt create things off his own bat enough.

And for what its worth I reckon his kicking whilst looking very pretty is overrated. He lacks depth in his kicking and turns it over more often than people think

He isnt in our best 22 and I personally want him out of the team

Darling is AFL ready and was touted a top 3 pick the previous year. Watson, judging by what I've seen and the Ánts reports is at least another pre-season away. My only concern is he does not appear to be a big body contact player.

I'm sure the River Rodent can give more insight.

Really Kouta.? If I was on the match committee I would choose a tough team, not ball watchers....

Hope you like losing with houla ball watching, thorton behind his opponent then falling to the ground, Austin having no idea..... Need I go on.

So what would be our toughest team then? What also gives you the indication that we're not a tough team in general, let alone by comparison to the rest of the competition? You do also realise how a match committee works right?

Who do you suggest we replace the above with?

You make all these ridiculous statements and offer no better solution. *snip*.

Interesting to consider though.

You never really know with these blokes who'll make it and who won't, but given Darling is 191cm and Watson is 196cm we made the only reasonable choice. Last thing we need is another undersize KPP.

While we played poorly, I'm not sure that enough credit is being given to West Coast here. They won by 6 goals but it should have been 10+ - they couldn't play much better than that. Their forward press in particular was very impressive, forcing us into numerous turnovers. But we were well and truly beaten all over the ground.

Not much point complaining about the umpires either. 23 to 13 frees in our favor.
