I'm guessing Sydney Blue is already in Morocco and smoking some of the local product's finest.

Why am i crazy Dane because i suggest tbat a young bloke who has a chance to set himself up for life and beyond should go for it

Football is a business

The crazy ones are the ones that expect players to stay at their place of employment at lower money out of loyalty

Im happy murphs still a Blue because i support Carlton

But if he knocked back shit loads of money to stay he has been given the wrong advice

If you think Murphy isn't already 'set up for life' you're kidding yourself.

He'll leave football with a net worth of probably $3-4 million dollars (he's already investing wisely)... the gratitude and indebtedness of families such as the Pratts... and the vast opportunities that come from being a one-club player in a town like Melbourne.

He'll own properties, businesses, have plenty of liquidity, and have doors opened to him for pretty much the rest of his life. Not to mention the enormous satisfaction of hopefully playing a critical role in a Premiership team - and that's something you can smile about on your death bed.

Is that 'set up' enough?

What and Gary Ablett wasnt set up either ???

3-4 million - could have got 11/2 mill a year at GWS - three years he is in front

The AFL introduces a system where it brings you in - you have no say in where you go - you can be shipped off at the drop of a hat and silly supporters expect the players to be loyal

Ablett - did the right thing - he looked after himself

If murph was offered a lot more money to go and he didnt take it - He has recieved bad career advice

I think Murphy wants his career to be worth something. (I.e. Premiership winner)
Ablett had already won 2 premierships.
Just because you have been burnt SB it doesn't mean everyone should be as jaded as you.

I would also strangely like to echo John Ms thoughts.

Another question SB was it you or bondi who used to support the club by buying thousands of memberships only for the club to spit in their face?

Like I said he can stare at that Medalion in 10 years time at Templestowe

there have been plenty of legends play the game and not win a flag - doesn't make their careers not worth anything

Not everyone is as blind sided as you - and who is to say we are in any better position to win a flag than GWS - New sides coming into the comp have a habit of snagging one early

Crows- Coast - Port- Lions

Maybe he got good advice, took his time because it was so good and stayed because he was loyal and wanted to win a premiership with his mates

So by your reckoning players like Voss, Black, Scotts, Lynch, Power who knocked back bigger contracts to stay with the Lions and enjoy success as one team players are now worse off than if they'd move.

Also by the same reckoning, Des Headliand is way ahead, Capper is way ahead.

Sometime a smart player and good manager see beyond 3 years. Murphy is going to live a lot longer than 30 years old.

how soon people forget- Brisbane had 15% salary cap relief and those guys would have been on more money than they would have got anywhere else- they were loyal to the pay packet

football changes very quickly lets paint a scenario

Round 24 - Juddy does and ACL and out for 12 months - we go out in straight sets and Ratts is sacked and Roos is appointed coach

Roos doesnt like Gibbs because he doesnt suit his stoppage type football so he unloads him to the Crows - The players who are just getting used to player empowerment are told by Roos you will do as I say - Half the list is totally pissed

In the meantime Gillard gets her CT though and implement changes to Cars - Visy and Hyundia say no thanks and pack up and piss off - We lose our two major sponsors

Club decides it has to sell games interstate and they are playing two in darwin three in north queensland and one to New Zealand and a game at Tassie

Whilst all this is going on Sheeds nabs Scully - Thomas - Pendles is coming and he secure Josh Kennedy and a disgruntled Mike Jamison- Not only that he has returned from South Africa with and 8ft 2 inch ruckman who breaks the vertical leap test by 1.2 metres and can run a 100 in 10 flat
Along with 20 odd of the best up and coming 18 year olds in the country

You front up round one you look in the middle and here is Brocky ellard and Setanta in the ruck - Hammer is traded and Warnock not tough enough for Roos

your think shit I'm playing all these games all over the country - I'm copping the hard tag every game and I could have been playing in the best midfield in the comp with a ruckmen that never misses and lays in on a plater -- all this for less money

If that post was a nappy, the shit would be running out the leg holes.

Yes true BV - but as I said things can change very quickly

13weeks ago the Doggies was almost everyones favorite to play in the Grand final- Now they are looking at a total rebuild and years in the cellar again

I wonder how many Doggies players are sitting there saying geez why didnt I take that offer from the GC instead of hanging around with my mates because we were going to win a flag
