What do interstate members think?
I view my interstate/long distance membership as a donation to the club; there's no real value in it.
To answer your question though: from a viewing perspective I don't give a rats arse where we play, I don't even care if we win or lose; I'm just happy to watch my team play.
From a strategical point of view, I'd rather play at the MCG because we have a better record there.
I fly down from Sydney for Between 12 and 15 of our games each year so my interstate membership is good. As far as other people not being members I have no idea. Etihad is a great venue. I know the G is the best venue but I'd go anywhere to watch us play and I don't care what it costs.
Ten years ago they tried to basically kill us off the AFL we had our lean period. That period showed a lot about how strong we are. There are a lot of other Victorian based clubs that punishment would have killed off. The fact we survived and are about to thrive is testament to what a strong club we have.

your a champ NB, so are you Lurker.
I'm like NB. I plan on a dozen games (usually Bris, Adel, Syd,Perth for business and footy) and the rest are in Melb.
A lot of the time I don't even have my membership with me when I'm in Melb and just pay at the gate.
The membership for me, my family and friends (I buy a few) is about a sense of loyalty, a sense of belonging to something great, and a financial contribution to the club to keep the spirit going. As my son Carlton says to kids and teachers at his Catholic school his dad's religion is Carlton.
