Am I the only one that is worried about Houla coming back representing the old unaccountable Carlton. ? I know he is skillful and all that, but he is not exactly a tough player.
You and everyone else who didn't watch the first half of last year.
...and what about that final against the Lions the year before that when he was our BOG...tough, uncompromising and created plenty of opportunities. Houla has been doing well for the last 5 years imo. The team hasn't been great in the past and he was tarnished as a result, but I know he did really well in those dark years.
I couldn't respond to Drewgirl such was my sadness to read that post coming from her...
I've said this before and I'll say it again, that the negative attitude towards a damn good player was based on him pulling out of the contest 7 years ago...and then there were a few posters here on TC having a go at his hair style and a genuine hatred of the guy.
Those posters have mellowed since Houlihan proved his value to the team over the last couple of years. Yes I know they needed convincing, but Houla's consistency, class and flexibility changed the detractors' negative slander... then Drewgirl's comment appears...he's not that bad Drewgirl.
Can't wait for a fit and in form Houla joins this team on the rise. Blokes like him and Scotland deserve to see some success when they could have walked in the past for better offers. He'll add that extra bit of polish imo, and that's based on what he was like before he was injured. We should kick more accurate for goal with his return.
If he doesn't play with the same gusto in his return then maybe the injury has slowed him down and the game has passed him, but not because he is unaccountable.
Remember what he did to AA, Norm Smith and AA McLeod?
