T Bird is going ok though.
My question to this is, is 'okay' good enough? Guys like Thornton, Warnock, Betts, McLean, Setanta, Armfield etc have been 'okay'.
IMO for us to be a Premiership Side, 'okay' simply isnt good enough!
Why has Ellard escaped the spotlight of being just okay?
If we want to progress, we need to pick our best side and go with just the one tagger in Carrazzo. We don't want to fall into the trap of playing too many "good ordinary" players like Saints did with McQualter and Jones. They're roughly St Kilda's versions of Ellard and Carrazzo. The Pies exposed St Kilda's bottom six in the second Grand Final. You can't go too defensive and pick too many average players who can't kick and/or get the ball. Ellard doesn't get enough of the ball to hurt sides. Good kick for goal, but he was drafted as a small forward.
I guess it depends on upside.
Okay players will get a run while they are still playing okay, provided there is not someone playing better in the twos.
Good players who are not reaching their full potential like eddie will still more than likley keep their spot until someone better comes along.
you're never going to have 22 elite players all on top form in the same team at the same time.
I think Wanock has been doing better than just okay.
Eddie has had is moments and is slowly improving in recent weeks.
Army is a bit off at the moment but I see huge potential in him and i'm more than happy to stay in the side until someone beats down the door.
mclean has been a massive dissapointment so far - still holding on to hope though.
I agree throton has been okay and doing a job.
ellard is all heart and I love having in in the team - will he be part of our next flag side? he wont die wondering, and if he can keep his spot then good luck to him.
