This win just paper's over the cracks. Adelaide isn't a top 8 side. They are ravaged by injury and we just win. Full credit to the coaching staff for the improvement in tackling this year but it is as if all our players are coached to be midfielders.
- Warnock and Hampson are not coached on the basics of marking
- Waite plays too high. Opposition coaches will be wrapped to see him taking marks 60 meters out
- Goal kicking problem is as much a function of an inadequate forward structure as poor goal kicking technique (which is a coaching responsibility anyway).
- We persist with players that may be triers and good trainers but are not the future. If white is better than watson I will go he. If Joseph or ellard, as well as he played today, than lucas, I would like to someone in the know to point out why.
- Surely you would risk another KPP as Sub over Joseph.
- I watch Gibbs & I can not see the impact the coaching staff has had on his game. He can not carry the ball and isn't hard enough.
1. warnock takes a reasonable mark - its more his set shot kicking that is of concern. hampson is getting there - his marking this year is a step up from previous years
2. waite plays high atm b/c we dont have a marking target around HF - its something that henderson would normally be
3. goal kicking - imo its a mental issue more than technique - and more technique rather than a forward structure thing
4. watson isnt physically ready yet - that he was rested last week post-pies game shows that. Expect watson to float in and out of the side this year rather than consolidate a spot. Also, from ants reports ellard and joseph have been in reasonable form for most of the year - lucas has been a way off and is slowly finding his feet again. Much rather we bring in players in form rather than someone who has been struggling
5. Which KP sub would you have had? Also, how would the KP sub have influenced the game if murphy/judd had come off with a hammy in the 1st quarter? - subs will generally be players that can add to the midfield rotation as that is where games can be more easily won/lost. Also, joseph had an impact - made the key tackle in the last few seconds that stopped a forward thrust from the crows and prevented them from potentially tying the game
6. I agree gibbs has been below par the past couple of weeks - first 4 weeks was reasonable though. I dont think he will ever be an inside mid - will play more a buckley receiver type role.
