I reckon exposing him to that many aerial collisions could be a risk given his recent ACL. Centre bounce ruckwork is a fine art: keeping your eye on the ball while you try and maximise your leap at it, then sticking the landing.

So Kruze will ruck again in 2013???

If Waite is played in the ruck, then Ratten and the whole MC should be sacked.

While I see what you're driving at based on my point, Kreuz has years of experience in the position, and is a taller, stronger player.

I think he'll definitely be second ruck this season unless all our other ruckmen go down, but he will contest centre bounces when called upon.

Yeah nah, I would be against playing our only semi effective tall forward as an undersized ruck

Must-win game. Facing Swans the following week. They'll be coming off a bye; we'll be coming off a 6 day break.

Interesting stat on 3AW last night: Carlton have had 60 backwards kicks in the 4 rounds played ... more than any team in the comp, the next highest being 39.

That's a massive difference in game plan between the Blues and the rest. Will be curious to see how long Ratts continues with that and indeed if they continue with that into this Adelaide game.

I'm assuming you didn't read my earlier post - will bring it back up again - given Walker smashed Dangerfield last time around, give him the job again? Armfield to the forward line?

I've glanced at it. I'd prefer to keep Walker forward and I've been of that opinion for close to 3 years. We could use either Walker or Armfield as the defensive forward, but I just want Walker to ensure he's providing pressure when the ball hits the deck. Houlihan could not come back faster; I'd like to have us deploy Armfield in defence/midfield and make Betts & Walker more accountable for their performance.

We can use Lucas on Dangerfield as he can thwart him on the ground & in the air. Or we can keep Carrazzo in if he pleads mercy to Ratten.

Not sure why you've gone so tall?

Agree with your sentiments on Houlihan. Don't feel Walker provides any pressure once the ball hits the deck, as 9/10 he will have attempted to go for mark of the year, and be on his arse.

Be a big call to bring in a borderline inclusion for the purpose of playing on the opposition's best midfielder, I don't think he has the strength to go with him, nor do I think Carrots has what it takes to go with him if he goes forward.

Have gone so tall, as we've struggled with tall forwardlines at Etihad in the past, and think White should be kept in as insurance. At the same time, without Davis, it forces them to play an extra tall down back, their best option for this, Luke Thompson I don't think is ready for senior footy. If we were playing at AAMI, I'd probably advocate the extra small also, but given their fitness issues, I reckon we can cope anyway. Put our best runner in Armfield on at the sub at half time (in an ideal world) and I reckon we'll overrun them.

I think we're struggling to accommodate so many marking options in the forward line as it is, and throwing in 190 - 193 cms players in to handle blokes in the 198 - 203 cms range is probably hurting us more than loading up on a runner or two to aid the midfield and run out of defence. Lucas would add a bit to our run, movement from HB and our f50 entries, rather than selecting him purely to stop Dangerfield. Russell is another option for Dangerfield.

Hampson been useless up forward but okay in ruck. Spends most of the time forward. OUT. Setanta okay up forward average in ruck. IN.

Betts simply useless. OUT. Collins see Betts. OUT. If Bower is match fit IN. Remaining 1 or 2 spots between Armfield, Ellard, Lucas. IN. If MC want crash and bash Ellard or more height and polish Lucas.

Henderson stays as he has shown previously he can turn his form around. Give the kid a couple of weeks.

MC advise Walker he has TWO feet and stop falling over.

It aint rocket science.

I spent the weekend away so missed the game and just caught snippets on here.

LMAO that Setanta is suddenly seen as the new saviour, while Hendo, who we all know can play and is a potential 200+ game player for our club, should be discarded following his poor first up game after an injury riddled pre-season. LMAO.

If Ratts is fair dinkum about the “No passengers” theme, then Eddie must go. Not difficult to replace as he’s not actually contributing.

If we cant beat an injury riddled Crows side who thenselves couldnt even beat a previously pathetic Port Power, then not only have we not improved, but we've gone backwards....
Agree re. the sentiments regarding Hampson. Us waiting for him to show something reminds me of the Bummers fans from a few years back who were always waiting for Courtney Johns to tear a game apart, but he never did. The Club and fans resigned to him being a spud, and he was promptly delisted... Its looking like Hammer might go the same way as Courtney Johns...

Well, I'll try and provide an actual rebuttal to Dominator_7 rather than the above

Courtney Johns and Hampson are 2 completely different type of players
Johns was a slow bulky lumbering full forward while Hammer is a tall agile and quick ruckman and as we all know ruckmen take a lot longer to develop.
I'd be looking to give Hammer more time rucking around the ground and giving 206 more time up forward. Hammers ruckwork last year improved greatly IMO.
