I've been reading and hearing quite a few things like this lately. The other day it was how our membership extras aren't as good as other clubs'. Personally I don't join up because the process is a convenience, or for the free gifts that come with it. I join to support the club. Things like free hats and fridge magnets don't matter one iota to me. Nor does the website. If a 'supporter' needs free presents to entice them to join, or they don't join because the website isn't as easy as another club's...well, really... That's a somewhat different debate altogether though. I can understand what Molsey means from a marketing perspective. I personally don't find our club website as a whole to be a problem, each time I go on there I can usually find what I'm looking for relatively quickly. I never renew my membership online there anyway, but one way to drive people away from joining is to scare them away with a difficult sign-up process. Particularly some of the older crowd who aren't as technologically savvy and struggle with computers...it needs to be user-friendly for everyone to attract as many as possible. The only difference I noticed with Collingwood's page was that it was much more "colourful" but had much the same as ours anyway. As for the forms being readily available...again, it wouldn't be a problem to me to go one click further and download one, but I guess people want this content straight away.
