A few questions:

-Has it been on/if not, when is it on?

-Who can attend?

-If it has been on, what came out of the meeting, and what were the key issues discussed?

Reports much appreciated from those who attend, or have attended.

Cheers.

Tonight. All members can attend. Bring your 2010 membership along. Yarra Park Room, Olympic Stand, MCG, 6pm.

It's usually a very quick affair...induction of life member/s, quick overview of financials, short speech from CEO and Pres about 2010 and things to come...questions from the floor. Unfortunately I can't make it tonight...wish they had it later in the week.

Unfortunately Im unable to make it either.

Hoping someone is able to keep tabs on how many members preface their question by stating they're a passionate supporter.

Hoping someone is able to keep tabs on whether the same bloke who complained about the white jumper in 2008 will complain about the light blue one tonight. #hopingsomeoneisabletokeeptabson #@Carlton_FC #AGM #beNavy #FFS # :banghead:

Seems like many can't make it because of a clash of sorts.

For those going, tell 'em to get rid of the clash!

Pretty standard meeting` although there was some heat from the floor regarding the way members are being treated by the club, Greg Swanns performance, the lack of facilities for members in the new buildings, ticketing and recruiting.
As mentioned above Waitey, Simmo and Fish became life members.
Sticks and Swann both said they would be focusing on reducing debt.
Simon Wilson who also became a life member, explained that for most of the interview with The Sun he really talked up the club and the future but towards the end of the interview was asked about any regrets and that`s when he mentioned Goddard. Sticks said that`s why he and Ratts just dont speak to the media which i thought goes along way towards explaining our poor image.
Juddy had a quick chat saying he thought Rebecca was batting out of her depth with a bald hairy guy, and all the new recruits were introduced.
No one mentioned the clash jumper.
I spoke to Sticks at the end re` closed training sessions and he said Ratts had to talked into having any open sessions.
A Hall of Fame/Museum was being considered.

And this is supposed to make everyone feel better, HOW exactly, Sticks?

Absolute naivety. They know who Michael Warner is - he's been potting Bruce Mathieson for years re: gambling and is a tabloid journo who has a reputation.

If ever they ban attendance at training by supporters, I'm declaring war...and they aren't going to like it.

A complete backflip if true. But the space where it should be housed is being occupied/utilised (under the Gardiner Stand)...so any half-arsed attempt will not be appreciated.

Thanks for your time PPW.

Some odds and ends from the AGM:

The life memberships have already been mentioned elsewhere.

No mention was made of the clash jumper.

The poor quality of the 2010 membership caps was raised; the Club was aware of this and have changed supplier for 2011.

A question was raised as to why the AGM was not being held at Princes Park as promised at last years AGM. The response was the club didn't believe they had an area large enough! The club will investigate whether the warm up area is suitable for future years.

The Club's debt would be it's main focus next year!

The new players from the ND were introduced by Ratts who looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders!

Juddy was also there and was quite entertaining (i.e. when questioned about his upcoming nuptial, Juddy mentioned how Bec was clearly punching above her weight even though she is with a bald, hairy guy!! ); Sticks had earlier made reference that Fish, Kade and Waitey were all punching out of their weight division with their other halfs!!

Juddy, clearly wasn't impressed with some of the going ons at the AGM making mention that a club's dirty laundry should stay in-house. He was making reference to question time where one member was not very complimentary of the club, and Greg Swann in particular. Sticks mentioned to Juddy how glad we are to have him at our Club; I think Chris has been at the club long enough where we don't have to continuously thank him for choosing Carlton any more!!

Spoke to Luke Mitchell regarding his shoulder, he mentioned that the op was more precautionary to ensure he didn't do more damage to it during the season with a longer period on the sidelines; he expected to be ready for footy activities in 12 - 15 weeks. He mentioned some work was done on a loose tendon (labral or labrum i think) to prevent the shoulder popping out in future!

I asked Greg Swann about Marc Murphy, he thought things should work out OK without sounding totally convincing. He appeared much more confident about Luke Mitchell's shoulder operation and recovery which was quite pleasing. I asked him if we were aware about Luke's shoulder when we drafted him and his response was that Luke hurt his shoulder at Sorrento.

Finally I asked him about closed/open training sessions and he stated that it was his understanding that the club made it clear which sessions were closed/open. I stated that wasn't the case as someone was marched out yesterday's session and there was no info on the club website. He stated that wasn't good enough and agreed that the Club should be doing everything possible to engage supporters. He mentioned that the website will be kept up to date; He also mentioned quite strongly that he didn't believe in closed training sessions anyway (partly for some of the reasons already mentioned), but the coach had argued that he believed it could be the difference between winning and losing!! When I mentioned that closed training sessions weren't an issue for two of the last three premiers, Swann reiterated that if had his way all sessions would be open!!

When we win the flag due to possibly keeping our tactics under wraps.

I don't see what the big deal is with having closed training sessions.

Hawthorn's draft info leaked after they supposedly gaved a closed presentation to their members prior to the 2006 draft.

Even if track watchers mentioned tactics and match simulations on here, odds are the other clubs would already know what we were doing before they even logged in and posted their training report.

Don't start me on the clash jumper. :banghead:

I wouldn't have thought there was an awful lot of contesting work being done at Sorrento that may have caused the injury - a bit worrying that his shoulder would cause concern under those circumstances.

Also Greg Swann was pretty confident about having Shaun Grigg's contract all wrapped up as well (not that I will miss Grigg all that much). :?

sounds like there is a bit of division amongst the clubs leaders and ratts appears to be a bit on the outer/out of kilter

I cant believe that Ratten has put a self imposed media ban on himself.
