As a general watcher/follower of sports around the world I'm not totally against clash strips. I've come to terms with great clubs around the globe embracing an alternate strip, but I've always held the belief that we should not be playing in anything other than our famous Navy Blue jumper unless ALL TEAMS are made to conform.

In saying that, the white jumper we've worn in the last few season was pretty good. Universally praised as the best clash strip in the AFL.

...but sorry, this latest one is garbage. Image

What the hell was the rationale behind adopting a colour that is totally foreign to our tradition? Money? I pray we haven't sold our dignity for a little extra $$$, And I do mean little $$$. I can't see many sales for this rubbish.

I also pray we never !@#$%& wear this against the filth or scum.

Why do people say Collingwood and Essendon* don't have away guernseys? They clearly do.. and they both serve the purpose of having a LIGHTER back, ie. Bombers mostly red and collingwood goes from Black-> white.. being the nature of our jumper we clearly have to have a drastic change to have a light back, or have a completely different jumper ala. Hawks, Eagles and ect.

Also to someone saying how mad they would be if we won a grand final in the light blue.. are you serious man? If Carlton won the premiership NAKED ie curly red wigs i could care less.. we'd be the winners again! And we would surely change into the Navy for presentatons and photos.

The colour is bright and vivid and different to most because the club wanted it to be eyecatching for the younger generation, not the over 40's. You attract more members in many ways but one of the ways is to catch the eye of the young who hopefully want to get involved and join.

That's clearly a cheaper option than being a strong and well led club with the side by side motto that unifies your supporter base. Rather than changing their guernsey to attract teenagers as members, they're bringing their history to their supporters and making that the selling point.

If the dollars are there, then it's clear that the guernsey is in danger of changing again.

The jumper is Carlton.

Yet it has become the equivalent of North stating they're Melbourne team, yet attempting to play seven games in Tasmania.

"It's still Carlton, but the jumper isn't dark navy because Nike wants it that way."

I cant believe no one has commented on Murph's haircut.

How about a smile btw Murph.

As for the colour...meh, not delighted with it, but given the fact we have to have a clash guernsey (and make no mistake...we do have to have a clash guernsey) I'd rather a lighter colour than flower with the design (i.e block colour with CFC mongram).

We could do something corny like Essendon* and just increase the size of the monogram

the more i look at it the more i like it

navy blue stripe down the side of the shorts consistent with the guernsey would have been nice

I hate the fact that we now "need" an away jumper.

How'd the league survive for 100+ years without them???
Pfft spare me! :banghead:

But, IMHO, I'd actually prefer the white over the baby blue.

And to think that part of the new membership slogan reads:

BE NAVY.

Joke.

There really wasn't any need to go bringing up tanking.

Kouta's post is the post of the year in my opinion.

It sums up everything I feel.

1) Carlton is officially a 2nd tier team with this horrendous clash guernsey whilst Collingwood races ahead.

2) Give me Collingwood's marketing dept any day over the fake/phoney/hollow posturing of the Carlton marketing dept.
Side by side of Collingwood vs Carlton's fluffy blue Wiggles marketing

I guess little kiddies are asked to come into the offices at Princes Park and asked which fluffy doll they prefer too.
Get the younger generation they think...then you have them for life...well eventually young people will swap teams when you
offer them something that lacks class. You might get them for a year or two but you can't build brand loyalty when you make
the team look like candymen. Eventually candy loses its sweetness.

This type of marketing exercise /fake guernsey that has nothing to do with what Carlton represents might appeal to 5 year olds but not 20-40 year olds....(well not 20-40 years olds with class anyway).

Agree...the biggest football clubs in the world change not only their away strips each year but there home strips as well....its all about the marketing dollar nothing else....we shouldn't take it so personally....in a perfect world we would only wear Navy Blue...and to steal a line from Charlie Harper...'and Bambis mother shouldnt die and lap dances should be free after the 5th cocktail but that aint the world we live in....'

Yeah and ManU,Chelsea,Real Madrid,Barcelona and the list goes on and on...are all second tier teams too....these are clubs that make the filth look like the thirds in the little league comp....

Are you referring to soccer clubs when you mention the word "football"?

Because soccer has nothing to do with what is happening HERE in Australia. Or do we have to refer to everything that is done in Europe for justification for what we do here in Australia?

The biggest "football" clubs (if you are referring to Australian football) - Collingwood and Essendon* - wear their colours week in, week out...but I guess that is of no relevance here in Australia. What happens on the other side of the planet has far more relevancy.

In a perfect world we would stand up for what we believe in - problem is no one believes in anything anymore.

I haven't seen them play football - are they any good?

Any there any players in those teams who can take a good high mark?

This shit just keeps going on and on. Seriously some of you sound like you wanna go support collingwood. Get with the times. Club just made $115 from me on top of my $800+ membership.
