Take a breather...it's BF...and that means reactive...and the blame game with the vicious cycle that goes wioth it.
The coach of THAT team...you know, Clarkson, takes full responsibility for not moving on from the successful 2008 rolling zone. He didn't blame Barker, Franklin or Roughead for the terrible efforts of the midfield....neither did Jeff Kennett.
If the ball doesn't get into the forwardline in the first place, how can the Forward Coach be responsible for the terrible firt half of 2010?
That's Clarkson's fault imo..he openly admitted that. It wasn't a Forwardline issue that was the problem with the Hawks in the first half of 2010.
I notice that when they got their midfield strategy sorted they won against the Tigers who were at the beginning of their winning cusp and a week later they demolished the Blues on the scorboard. In that game not one Hawks defender kicked a score

...so you can't give credit to the defensive coach in that game.
Whatever you want to think of Barker doesn't matter because he is a wanted man, and he gets a gig every couple of years because he has options...other clubs know what he has to offer, hence his continued trnure as a forwards coach.
You should ask what Roughy, Franklin, Rioli and co have to say about Barker; great motivator, makes them think about their game, the opposition and how the delivery is likely to be....he gets them thinking and making things happen.
I never take notice of opinions on BF, TC or CSC; that's entertainment.
But when footballers and those who know people in high footy places say things about those in the industry, my ears prick up every time.
Every one is entiltled to their opinion: viva la democrace.
Who should be our forwardline coach instead of Barker? That's the BIG question.
