After viewing the bullants result I will ask the question, who do we drop next week and which spud do we bring in from the twos? Or will we just wheel out the usual sack ratten bullshit.

Thornton was in the best and he usually does pretty well at that level. Armfield & Houlihan are coming back from injury lay-offs and should be in the mix. Houlihan may have played a half for the Bullants today.

Yes Jimmae, i think we have missed Houlihan and Armfield always give 100%

But isn't everyone saying Houlihan and Thorton are gone and that playing them is going backwards?

Thornton has an issue with his use of possession, however last season he was one of the club leaders in terms of setting up chains of possession. People look to blame him and he does deserve a bit of the flak, but the change in forward structure has definitely unsettled our ball movement because we have no confidence in our 'traditional' lead targets, and the ball isn't well crumbed because our smalls are busy making leads or not on the same page.

Furthermore, our midfield run has been poor, to the extent where I personally feel our forwards and defenders are doing extra work while select midfielders coast around the place looking busy. The lack of responsibility in midfield for all three phases of our play (defence, transition, attack) has undermined players at either end. Thornton is probably the biggest victim of this.

Houlihan has been fantastic this year after working on his defensive game last season. People rave about Carrazzo's lame attempts to tag, but Houlihan was helping shut down opposition run off HB and grabbing goals and assists just about every game. It would seem only injury has curtailed his output to this point.

FINALLY!
Ratten showed the attitude that he should have been showing weeks ago
embarrassment
weakness
selfish footy
he hit the nail on the head in that media press conference
i know hes been coping alot of shit but i was slighty relieved when he finally admiited there was a problem
howd everyone else see that interview
ratten may not be capable of sernior coach of the greatest afl club
but the players are going to have to made accountable too

Another example of why Ratten is out of his depth. He's playing from the pissed off coach handbook. Embarrassed by the players? @#$%&! me  . I was embarrassed after the team was selected last week.

Club seem to think Judd's just bruised his pec - or have I missed a comment somewhere?

Surely that won't keep him out.

Never believe what the club tells you when it comes to injuries. It's another attempt to trick our opponents next week, who couldn't possibly be able to work out that his injury is more serious than a bruise.

Just be thankful he's not listed with a thigh/quad injury, they'd have to put him down if that was the case.

The words soft....disappointing....disspirited....stagnant...disinterested...slow...structureless....etc.etc. are all being uttered all over Melbourne.....they must be able to hear them at Visy Park.

Backwards!!!!! from a Carlton great.

This is not good. Not good at all.

Even worse, I think he's right.

More discussion, including some bites from Ratten's press conference. That's as animated and worked up as I've ever seen Ratten. Hopeully he doesn't give the players such a long leash in future. He should have been ripping into these guys a few weeks back IMO.

I think later in OWAAT they ask Walls if Carlton is soft - his reply is something along the lines of them being close to it - but his demeanour suggests the effort he sees is destroying him. Looks like he'd like to get hold of a few of them and teach them about old Carlton.

Hey, there's an idea. lock them in a room with Walls, Rhys Jones, Buckley and McClure and let them know what the jumper stands for.
