Good to see Ellard named on the field. Not sure why Hampson is in at FF ............... And as mentioned above, Hadley is the only bloke why flew over with the team as an emergency ...........
I expected Jacobs and Lucas out and any of Joseph, Jamison, Grigg and even Carrazzo such was their form.
With their 3 talls in the forwardline, as mentioned the shortest being Kennedy at 197cm, I thought we'd retain Jamison and bring in Thornton to defend them.
Not surprised that Hammer is at FF, he was one of our shining lights last week. But if one of our talls is injured (ie Warnock, Hampson, Waite, Jamison or Bower) we will most likely be disadvantaged with the match ups or we will be advantaged on the big ground having 5 smalls in the forwardline.
I would have preferred either Thornton or Setanta/ Fisher back to allow Waite to play forward or one of the other 2 mentioned and Hammer and Warnock could rotate between ruck, KPF and IC.
It's a big ground and our bench is chocker full of runners which is a good thing.
Despite the fact I've lost all confidence backing this side, I have a feeling we will find enough goals to win and with Waite in the backline (which I consider a luxury) our backline does look to have stiffened up given the form of Jamison and the lack of support recently from the backline. Lets hope Hammers last week's last quarter form continues. A bit rough on Warnock and Hammer if they are expected to be on the gorund for the whole game. Both players have not really been conditioned to play 4 quarters of senior footy; that's the risk there.
I hope Ratts' plans work for him this week because he's up against a more experienced coach.
Please make sure their forwardline isn't allowed to conduct itself with favourable mismatches (ala last week Shaw vs Joseph). Please keep Le Cras quiet, and I do not feel Ellard is tall enough for him, so I wonder who'll get LeCras. Hopefully it's not Joseph eiother and I'm predicting it will be either Russell or Armfield.
I'll say this (and it's my opinion only) there's a lot of reputations on the line and also some spots in the team, particularly Jamison and Joseph's.
I'm expecting Bower and Hammer to improve with another game under their belt and with Waite back there, Bower should go really well.
We have enough WA supporters over there (19th man), and a bunch of ex WA players in our team this week so it feels like a home game and we should get over the line: Judd, Warnock (played there) and Ellard, Bower, Betts, Garlett, Yarran and Armfield (all born and bred). That's 8 of our 22.
I want the 4 points, but a bit of a boost in % would be good too.
Go Blues. 40 point win.
Please
