..dig yer posts, but this is a stinker.. ..how's it smart play? to trade one of our 3 rucks [not krooz] for a top 20 pick when Hammer was drafted at 17 and for Knockers and 69 we gave up 24, 56 and 72.. ..only works for us if we trade Sauce on those terms..
..note -- i figure by top 20 yer not thinking of anything below 10 [otherwise it'd be top 10 pick].. ..and maybe not a bit over 10 either.. ..so, mid/late teens type pick yeah..??..
What their value was when we aquired them is irrelevent. Football lists are an ever evolving beast. Do you think 2 high quality AFL type ruckman are going to be happy running around for the Bullants for the next 5 years? Moving one of them on for a quality return would be of benefit to us surely. If we could get a top 20 pick this year for one of Jacobs or Warnock, I'd jump at it. The draft looks to be an absolute ripper.
I wouldn't swap Hammer for anything less than a top 10 pick however.
..not even for a top ten it seems, since we knocked back port's offer for Hammer.. ..i just don't think it's smart play to trade a player for basically what it cost you in the first place.. ..it may work out that way for any number of reasons, but it's not smart play.. ..it's basically getting what it initially cost you back.. ..nothing extra for time/energy invested, and the development of the player, cos lets face it, if they didn't look any good said club wouldn't be offering their first round, or very early 2nd round pick would they..?.. ..and then yer gotta start all over again from scratch with another kid..
Top 10 last year will be different to top 10 this year IMO. There is no way these 4 guys are going to be happy staying on the same list for the next 10 years. We still have a few holes out on the park, maybe one of the above mentioned ruckman can secure another important piece of the puzzle.
