lucas, yarran, army, bower should all play for the bullants for a week
and grigg, hendo and mclean shud slot back into the team
id replace hadley, ando, browne
waite can play around the ground and go up forward if we need him
hendo has kicked 4 (bullants) , 3 (carlton), then 8 (bullants) so he obviously getting confidence up
grigg played to well not to get a shot
id even like to see the hammer take jacobs spot
jacobs has been great but long term i think we need the hammer

I dont think they envisaged Walker playing accross half back and suspected Waite would be playing there more often than not and I dont think they ever had it in their plans to play Yarren Betts and Garlett in the same forward set up - Hendo was always going to be a week to week prospect - Setanta was an unknown quantity and no one would have had him kicking 24 goals at the half way mark-

Fisher lined up in the practice matches and the first hit out against the Swans as the lead up marking target - Injuries more than anything have forced some experimentation and most of it has been for the better- Walker off half back has been a huge plus


Besides people tend to forget in 2007 fisher kicked 39 goals from 19 games playing along side a bloke he demanded the ball be delivered to him - it was not a bad effort

Fisher is a very good mark.
What he needs to work on is his kicking and ability to put defensive pressure on when he does not have the ball. I remember him falling over a lot when trying to chase or tackle.

I think they'll ease Bower & Lucas back in, maybe two weeks in the twos to get up to touch and test out their durability?

Betts is the one who needs to show something this week over 4 quarters imo. It's indoors and dry so no excuses.

If Fisher is given another shot this year, it will be purely to get him his 2 games to make 100 and get his name on the locker.
Admitedly, he was looking very good in the preseason, but I don't think his achilles heel (pace) has improved since that embarassing performance in the last round against the Hawks in 2008. He aint the future; give you the tip.

The only role I could see Fisher playing for us now in up the ground a bit.. Lead up from half forward to the wings to provide a marking target coming out of the backline. I think he could be a good get-out-of-jail target.. utilise his strong hands when the run doesn't come. I think Waite has been providing this a bit lately.

It's going to be very tough for him to get back in.. He is pretty one dimensional. Not out of the question though

I don't think Brock is under instruction to hold the ball up, much like T-Bird not being under instruction to sag off constantly and push wide with his ball use. They can be 33 and still not get it, that's why there are coaches.

You're also ignoring the idea that it does take people time to fit in to the way a side (or for a broader perspective: a work place) operates and get into the swing of things. For McLean, that's only going to happen out on the field in the senior team. So when he continually performs below par as he has, you take him back to the twos with some instructions, he hopefully performs, you send him back up to the seniors and you give him an opportunity to rectify.

We're seeing that with both players at present, although Brock's on his first chance and Hadley is a lot further down the line.

the smart play would be to trade one of our 3 ruckman (ie not kruezer) for a top 20 pick and then take a speccy ruck rookie pick as our 4th ruckman. Or take a mature age ruckman such as oren stephenson.

I wouldn't mind betting that's the plan now that all 4 are up and running.

I would like to see nothing less than a good old fashioned hiding of these upstarts. Yes, we beat them last year, but the shellackings they gave us in the years prior to that still require some kind of retribution. A 100 point win and AJ's shoulder to meet Boomer's face at speed preferably in the first 5 minutes of the match, would see my long weekend starting quite pleasantly.

It will only be exact vengeance if Jacobs lopes around 40 m out near the end of the game and we pass it to him Harlem Globetrotters style, he slots the goal on the run, and we celebrate like we won a grand final.
