I can see what you are saying Sedat but don't assume because the Doggies couldn't do it, it can't be done. Not saying the Blues will, but there is no such thing as a perfect defence.
Not assuming it at all - I actually think you guys are a big show because of the explosive clearance winning midfield talent you have at your disposal, and the workhorse ability of Kreuzer to neutralise the St Kilda ruck strength at the stoppages, thereby preventing the likes of Dal Santo and Montagna from breaking clear of the congestion. All I'm saying that it is not easy to break down a naturally defensive oriented and committed opposition who are fit enough and strong enough to maintain their structure for 120 minutes. Also think your smaller and more unpredictable forward line could be more difficult for St Kilda's zone defence to guard against - of course this is predicated on your midfield winning the clearance battle. Would not surprise me in the slightest (and it would please me no end) to see Carlton overcome St Kilda this week.
The Dogs have been criticised by a lot of the media hacks for being lured into some sort of evil St Kilda web, but does anyone in their right mind think that Ross Lyon was actually planning to be two-and-a-half goals
behind in time-on in the last qtr? Idiots and cretins the lot of 'em. Denying them the ball and denying their rebounders the opportunity to actually rebound (and as ball users by foot Goddard, Gilbert and Fisher is an extremely potent trio) was pretty effective for a very large part of Friday night - but my God it was as dull as dishwater to watch. We weren't perfect by a long stretch - we did miss a few one-on-ones in our forward 50 where we should have pulled the trigger earlier.
