PROS:
-
I'M BACK!
- Walker played one of his best games. Shouldn't be taking kickouts but used the space at AAMI very well and his confidence continued to grow.
- Juddy's return was everthing we could hope for (maybe except for seeing one of his explosive goals from outside 50)
- White and Lucas both look like beauties. White in particular had a tough task to go to Burton (who always murders us), and held his own. As for Lucas, I like how he goes about it.
- Garlett/Yarran tag team. Yarran carved them up in the 1st half, Garlett took over in the 2nd. With these two and Eddie in the 50, no surprise that the pressure was much better.
- Hendo never stopped trying. Always competed and worked his arse off all day. He may not ever reach Fev's level in talent, but he's already outdone him for work ethic and teamwork.
- Loved Warnock's endeavour. For a big guy it was great to see him chase hard and get at the bottom of packs so often.
- Houlihan played EXACTLY the way we've been screaming for for years
- Murph, Gibbs, Carrots, Simmo, Scotland all their usual selves
- Jamo destroyed Tippett, and without Thornton seemed much more comfortable being 'The General'
- Pressure, tackling , commitment, the very things missing last week
- We broke their zone, we stretched them. This is a watershed moment for the team
- Kreuzer didn't to much with the ball, but a lot without it
- JR is quickly becoming one of our best users of the ball. No surprise that when he drilled the ball down the middle from CHB with one of his low spearing kicks we looked far more dangerous
- Kicking for goal. Funny how much easier it is when we kick between the big sticks
CONS:
- The 3rd quarter and most of the last. Yes, the Crows looked more like their old selves and we held them off (something we've never been able to do) but many of our bad habits came to the fore again
- Kick-ins still an issue, as is the holding the ball up bullshit (there's a time and a place to do it, which isn't when you're 40 pts up and you want to finish them off)
- Discipline. The 50s were bullshit, yes. But we should know by now that the umps have itchy trigger fingers when it comes to us, and we mustn't give ANY excuse for them to blow the whistle
- AJ will keep his spot for Ablett, but just doesn't seem himself right now
- Adelaide are very ordinary right now (have they swapped jumpers with Freo?) and with a tough run coming up, if we think this will be good enough to beat our next few opponents, we're @#$%&! delusional.
- We still lost to @#$%&! Essendon*
