The Crows will be out for blood this week. After losing to Melbourne, Craig David will have the boys up and about, despite a few lost players. Agree about someone like Moran being thrown forward and kicking a few goals...last night Williams hadn't kicked any goals yet for the season and he bagged four. Adelaide for mine are a team that will play in September, and this week seems like a great opportunity to open their account for 2010 playing at home off the back of a disappointing performance and against a team that they've had the wood on for 5 years.
Going forward as a club means breaking these hoodoos before we well and truly climb into the top 4 of the ladder. After losing to Essendon* again and the hoodoo continuing, I'm not so confident we will get up against the Crows who have had it over us longer than the Bombers have. I apologise for being negative as I generally regard myself as quite optimistic, maybe a little too optimistic, but the way the team went down last night does that to supporters. This week I'm looking for EFFORT out of all 22 blokes. It's never great to lose but if the team puts in 100% then there is nothing left to ponder if the result doesn't go our way.
Ratten is in for a very grilling week from the media. As we saw with Brittain and Pagan, the media vultures start to circle when things don't go as planned. After losing to Essendon* (again...) the pressure he will be under is the greatest of his coaching career. It is not so much if we lose this week that the pressure will be upped again, but if the team are out there running around like a pack of headless chooks with no structure, then the media frenzy will be almost too hard to stop. Supporters are getting impatient, and rightly so.
Hoping like hell that if the media frenzy gets pretty bad this week that we will go in as underdogs where the team are in a much better position to win.
A bad week in the media may work in our favour.
