Gibbs doesnt deserve to play next week... Ratts should be a hardarse and drop him to show his last three weeks are unacceptable and needs to lift. Two weeks in the magoos could be what the doctor ordered.
I posted elsewhere, a talkback caller last night claimed he has a broken thumb, and I recall a poster on here saying the same thing a few weeks back. If true, he shouldn't be playing, but we're notorious for playing injured kids IMO.
The only strapping he's had near his hands at training is a bit of tape on the wrist, presumably to fix a misaligned tendon.
There's no way he has a broken finger ala last year, and you can play through those with some panadol and an AFL-approved guard. Broken finger is one of the older medical minsomers, as it usually refers to a bad dislocation.
Some of these outs are ridiculous. White is the only key defender in the wings who is fit and ready. Grigg is in the midst of suspension and will not come straight in, so if McLean is out, it's going to be Hadley. Scotland doesn't deserve the axe, and you lot are trying to go even taller with our squad, which is suicide.
Revising my recommendations from last night:
Out: Warnock, Robinson, Houlihan
In: Jacobs, Garlett, Judd
Waite to defence, Setanta & Henderson to alternate operating from the square up to about 35 m out from goal. Any kick that lands at true CHF without picking out a genuine target should be marked very hard by the coaching staff. Houlihan gets a spell because he was the worst in the team when it came to spreading from the contest, and was woeful in the contested ball stakes where he got a greater role along with Carrazzo & Murphy after McLean copped his knock.
The fumbles were a group wide issue, and one the club will have to address with some very angry words, otherwise you'd drop most of the 22. The skill issues mostly flowed on from that (or youth, in the case of Henderson), and over-eagerness transitioning into attack left us exposed defensively, rather than soft running or a lack of chasing/tackling (although it was really disappointing to see us abandoning our defensive positioning in midfield because we got sucked in). The tackle counts were decent enough, so it comes back to Houlihan and having a dip for the ball, which is really disappointing because it's been a highlight of his last 7 or 8 months of football.
