Pros
- Forward spread - great work. Really, really impressed with how they created space and stayed out of each other's way. Top notch stuff. you could see them back track at times to keep the forward 30 free (Betts to Carlos was erotic!)
- Rucks. Sure Warnock was rusty but good competing, good work around the ground. Hammer has got a hard gig ahead of him and Jacobs even more so.
- Walker getting the ball
- Good clearance / hassle work. Richmond are very young and weak so not reading too much into this.
- Spread of options in midfield.
- McLean. In close was really good but also in space he is a good kick. Hadley has got a hard gig ahead of him.
- Gibblet. Great game. Delidio average and Gibblet gets the goals.
- More fitness into Waite, Warnock, Murphy
- Brendan o'hAilpin / Brendan Henderson (answering brendan who?) worked really hard.
Cons
- Concentration. Two 5 minute failures conceded 6 goals (2/3 for the night). This could / should have been a 90-100 point win.
- Walker disposing of the ball.
- Henderson, not as a con, but sometimes he did little 5 metre half-hearted leads. He needs to pursue deep leads to provide options. he'll get there
- Stat keeping - No way Russell was 95% effective. His second half featured at least 6 missed kicks. He was chastising himself for dud kicks. This is a fact. I was really happy with his positioning and for Round 1 I dont mind some odd kicks but he was fluffing them (Question - without Stevo who else do we go to?)
Good post Molsey.
Can people please take effective disposal % stats with a grain of salt? A kick that falls short but is collected by a teammate is "effective", even if it puts us under pressure and leads to a turnover.
CM pls take note!
