After the success Collingwood have had with McRae, I suspect Wright will take a similar path and look for a highly rated assistant who has been part of success at other clubs. I doubt Simpson would be on the radar

listening to him speak, there's not many people who know the strategic side of afl as well as him.

So you still think our list is 'ready made'.
 Funny man.

age profile is more ready, than say the green shoots bolton inherited, yeah?

this same list was on the up in 2023. only coaching an archaic gameplan - further compounded by the new HTB interpretation midseason, 2024 - is the difference.

let tdk go, chase a free agent or 2 with his money, trade harry out, bring in another 2 players, re-sign jack, add jagga to the mix, send cripps forward ala dangerfield, we aren't far away, imo. things turn around really quickly with the right coaching.

Our list was considered potential top 4 by many (even on here) Carlton fans before round 1...

Now some of them want to blow up the list?

Plan A looks ok when we're allowed to execute it, but when opposition teams change it up or turn up the heat, we're unable to respond.

When the Roos did it to us in the 2nd qtr... how did (serious Q) our coaches box respond to it?

Those who think Wright will save the club are deluded.

There is little evidence to suggest that any high-profile, non-player signing at Carlton in recent decades has been able to single-handedly "save" the club or deliver a transformative turnaround.

Here’s a list of notable non-player signings (coaches, executives, and key staff) at Carlton since 2010:

Presidents:

Stephen Kernahan (until 2014)
Mark LoGiudice (2014–2021)
Luke Sayers (2021–2025)
Robert Priestley (2025–)

Chief Executive Officers:

Greg Swann (until 2014)
Steven Trigg (2014–2017)
Cain Liddle (2017–2021)
Brian Cook (2021–2025)
Graham Wright (appointed Deputy CEO in 2025, set to become CEO)

Senior Coaches:

Brett Ratten (until 2012)
Mick Malthouse (2013–2015)
Brendon Bolton (2016–2019)
David Teague (2019–2021)
Michael Voss (2022–present)

Key Football Department Appointments:

Tom Lonergan (Development and Talent Manager, 2023–)
Brad Ebert (Development Coach, 2023–)
Torin Baker (Academy and Development Coach, 2021–)
Aaron Greaves (Coaching and Performance Manager, 2022–)
Ashley Hansen (Senior Assistant Coach)
Aaron Hamill (Backline Coach)
Tim Clarke (Midfield Coach)

Fitness:

Steven Tiricola – Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Andrew Russell – Head of High Performance (joined from Hawthorn in 2018; highly regarded in the AFL industry).
Luke Power – Development and high-performance roles (also served as VFL coach)

Looking for a savior just doesn't work at Carlton.

With the list they put together because they thought that this style of footy would win, it wouldn't matter who coaches the club. A number of us said it pre-season. Wrong list for the modern game. The list needs a major overhaul and I'm somewhat confident over 2 years the new CEO will demand it. If not, I'm quite seriously in favour of A.I leading the list management. I reckon it'd do a better job.
