There is an absolute BS surrounding the Teague train and what Josh has done. The next 5 weeks will tell us more but if looking at a comparison between DT and JF this is DT results when he was caretaker:

W - Round 12: Carlton 12.16 (88) def. Brisbane Lions 9.9 (63)
L - Round 13: Western Bulldogs 15.13 (103) def. Carlton 15.10 (100)
W - Round 15: Carlton 11.13 (79) def. Fremantle 10.15 (75)
L - Round 16: Melbourne 16.9 (105) def. Carlton 15.10 (100)
W - Round 17: Carlton 9.15 (69) def. Sydney Swans 8.14 (62)
W - Round 18: Carlton 15.9 (99) def. Gold Coast Suns 11.9 (75)
W -Round 19: Carlton 13.9 (87) def. Adelaide 9.6 (60)
L - Round 20: West Coast Eagles 15.9 (99) def. Carlton 11.9 (75)
L - Round 21: Richmond 11.7 (73) def. Carlton 6.9 (45)
W - Round 22: Carlton 11.12 (78) def. St Kilda 10.8 (68)
L - Round 23: Geelong Cats 19.15 (129) def. Carlton 8.13 (61)

Josh’s record

W - Round 10: Defeated the Western Bulldogs 12th
W - Round 11: Defeated Port Adelaide 34pts
W - Round 12: Defeated Geelong 4pts
W - Round 13: Defeated Essendon* 5pts
Round 14: Bye
W - Round 15: Defeated Greater Western Sydney 23pts
W - Round 16: Defeated West Coast 53pts

This is no sugar hit. This is different. The next 5 weeks will tell us what we need to know

Yep. We actually look like a decent, structured team now.

Under Teague we were an OK team playing with freedom for a month or so

Josh wants to coach us. I'm 100% sure of it. He just doesn't want to put pressure on himself, the players or the club by saying so. He's doing a great job and at this stage he's the one for me, but we don't need to make a decision just yet. So we can enjoy the ride, see where it leads us and hopefully work out something to get Cody at the end of the year.

I think it's less about him not wanting the pressure, it's going to build as long as we keep winning games. I think it's more about just silencing the media circus so it doesn't distract him the other coaches or the players — and in a way he's underpromising and as it turns out — overdelivering. Smart, who doesn't like that? I'm not here to take CFC to the promised land, I'm just here to make sure by the time we get to the end of the season, whenever that comes, that we're in better shape than we were when I was handed the job. As if to say ‘Lets talk about the team and our wins not about me’.

He started by saying he didn't think he was ready for senior coaching. Then he said probably not ready. Then he said it's hard to know when you are ready. Then his las version was he's not sure that he's ready yet. I suspect Josh will know by the end of the season if he's ready or not. Brilliant tactic to shut the media up in the first instance and then have them doing his marketing for him so long as we keep winning games. I think he's got a great mind for tactics and the small details and shifts of emphasis that make all the difference.

Well said.

Agree with drewgirl that this is becoming a bit of a pickle… assuming we're not buying into the Josh was Wright's plan all along theory.

Either way, I'm just gonna enjoy the ride for the rest of the season and not get too invested in the what ifs and who we should gets and just let the process take care of itself.

I'll back in whoever GW/CD give the gig to. Whoever it is can see, if the players have the directions and confidence, there is decent talent to work with.

Josh says he is not ready he has been an assistant longer than any other coach than they are interested in

Win the next 2 he surely has to enter the race

We shouldn’t have to force someone to WANT to coach our great club……

If he doesn’t have the passion to coach us,then let it be.

I am frankly sick of hearing him say he is not ready, his stance is still the same, but he will be ready down the track. Makes me think he just doesn’t want to Coach Carlton.

Unless it’s strategic and was told to say what he is saying I guess.

Let’s do it the right way, and he someone who has the passion to coach the Carlton Football Club.

Honestly, he's probably just keeping his message consistent with the media. Jay Clark aside they seem to have moved on a bit.

Sinbagger you know what I mean.

Caretaker is not the same as full time coach.

It’s like babysitting your sister, for a time it’s ok, but you don’t want to do it all the time.

Keeping that message consistent was/is a genius move...

Drewgirl... if he puts his hat in the ring now, the media circus will be all about him and a huge distraction to the team.

Hornet for sure.

Guess we wont know the truth at the moment.

I would hate for him to be bullied into the role. By the club or the media.

We have to get this right.

He wants to coach us, but is just keeping a lid on it at the moment.

100 % Hornet . I think Josh is playing it beautifully . He and the Club are running the show , not the media . Well played .

I'm not saying he white anted Voss in any way, but I think he's wanted to be Carlton senior coach for several months.

Can we just make a compromise with Josh.

If he makes finals and wins the premiership this year we can appoint him as interim coach for 2027 as well.

He can think of it as an long interview process for interim coaching position for the 2028 season.

Maybe the back end of the season is the interview process? Why go through a formal sit-down powerpoint presentation dog and pony show - just look at how he interacts with players, his assistants, footy club staff, media etc and decide if that is the person we want or not.

For all we know the cunning bugga has already started his Round by Round Powerpoint Presentation, starting from Game 9, Round 10, proving his methods work.
Each presentation page consists of Situational Analysis SWOT/ Aim in the game/ Plan for team/ KPI's for each player/ Success- Failures/ Projection

By the end of the year, he can show he met every KPI, every game, whilst developing a young team and coaching them to win games and make Finals/ Second Last page The Cup/ Last Page: What else do you want from your next coach?

I mean, i don't know if he is the right guy or not. But surely a live action job interview over a 10 week period is better than a hypothetical 'what I would do if given the chance' interview process? The guys making the call on this are going to see him in action and be able to decide if they reckon he has it or not.
