Watched the game again.

1st qtr it was Young whose reach and fist thwarted the onslaught
Young was tall enough to rush first point.
Watch the 2 nd. Young did his job in the air, and on the ground ball handles Lynch well.

Once Young was off the ground, Balta dominated the air. Lunch outbodied the shorter Derka twice.
Lewis is a scapegoat. Credit when credit is due.

Sure, Weiters and Dean back and Young and Derka back to the VFL
Young and Derka are and have been important to be on our list.
When we can improve on them we should, but not till we find those better depth players

We lost the clearances 43-31. Centre bounce 13-8 and stoppages 30-23. Pitto had 82% TOG. Rich scored significantly from clearance.

Pitto and our mids got smashed last night.

Fraser in his presser said this was a talking point in the box all game and that we never got it to where we wanted it to be.

The rain affected our game evolution. We will learn from that.
Once we lost Young, we were always on the back foot. We had to move McGovern as a KP back!!
We missed easy shots in the end that would have closed the game off.
The umpires kept Richmond in the game and in the end even tried to give their supporters some hope. F@#$ them - we won.
In the end the boys dug deep and got the win. That is important. That was crucial.
Thought Derksen showed he can do a job. We are on the right track.
Finally!

Pitto is an absolute liability. Smashed in the ruck weekly. When he does get a hit out it's rarely to our advantage. We got beaten out of the middle all night. No surprise that the tigers were able to push it forward at the end of the game.

I haven’t heard or read anyone disagreeing with this POV.

Herald Sun Ruck stats

RICH 38 (10 advantage)
CARL 39 (9 adv)

Pitto 36 (9)
Nank 32 (8)

AFL website

Balta 6 (1)
Harry 3 (0)

Watched the replay look for this. I call stats bullshit, or interpretation irrelevant

I wish there was a stat depicting Pitto HO to disadvantage.
He didn’t give his mids a chance at CB. Harry was hopeless. He looked VFL level.

Is Riley an improvement? Riley is 209cm. Nankervis is 199: Balta 196

Riley had 56 HO last week 39 this week against a monster.

Need to do a lot of work over summer to build chemistry between Riley and the midfield group.
Rikey building up his running and strength and he’s gotta be the focus, one get a friggin New No 1 ruck.

I don’t mind Harry as no 2 or 3 chop out to get him into the game, but he should be in the mix, not the answer as no 2, plus FFS let’s get a marking KPF to add. Kemp dropping chest marks and high marks…it’s hit and miss.

Two of the worst ‘wins’ you’ll ever see against the same oppo in the same season.

I’m filthy with that performance. Absolutely filthy. Disgusted.

Mids got pantsed. Pitto is the worst no 1 ruck in the league by a mile and is a massive liability. Needs to go. Like watching Cain Ackland out there.

Ison needs to be dropped. Can’t have a player meandering around like that. Barely getting out of a jog.

Kemp is very frustrating and has exhausted my patience. Works so hard but can’t execute the basics. Sick of the dropped sitters.
2 against Richmond and one against Essendon*. Don't want to play anymore bottom sides. Seems we just can't lift for them.

Richmond went in small at the clearances and it suited the conditions. We may have got outclassed on this one. Lewis Young did well ... get off his back.

Kemp is lucky we have a lack of forwards.

Last 2 minutes.

Marc Pittonet's push of Nankervis in the ball up and double fister to the boundary worked because Ollie Hollands laid last tackle and it stuck it. Game saving when it mattered.

Marc Pittonet's rare win at CB out in to the path of a Richmond player. What was he thinking? Where's the chemistry between him and his mids at CB. Why hit it where he did, unopposed?

Umpiring in last 2 minutes was cheating
It was obvious ball had crossed the line or may have crossed the line. Umpire should have asked the goal umpire.

SEN's Nic Necropontis post a video showing the ball went well past the line, in front and rught under the nose of Goal umpire.
What is that goal umpire there for?
He looked like he was about to give the one finger for a behind, then froze. Umpire didn't ask. Why not? He's a Cheat.

Next year when we play Bitchmond, I’d bring in Reidy and tell him to show us what he’s been holding back!!!
Fight fire with fire….

Would be a nice change. But good luck with that.

We bought him in to help Pitto soften up Grundy in round zero: you know 2 against 1.
Grundy monstered Reidy. Reidy didnt like making contact: Ackland style.

Played like an AFLW player.
Looks like Tarzan in the gym, plays like Jane on the field

Never want to see him in our AFL team again, until he shows that sort of aggression in the VFL.

I'd rather put Dean, or even Cowan up against Nankervis in the CB for the impact you're looking for.

2 rucks just didn’t work for us and I’d be hesitant in trying again for now. HoK can play forward though.
Reidy’s game is supposed to be agrresion. If he can’t display that, as no.1 ruck, then we have wasted a 3 year contract.
We all know he has little athleticism.

Two rucks works for Freo, Saints, Hawks, Swans, Cats have 4  etc etc but not for us.
We could, with Pitto and TDK, but Pitto would have to be No 1 because only TDK could play Forward of the 2.

Why not now?
Pittonet is not they player he was in 2023-4, and much too slow to play as a 3rd tall.
Reidy is even slower and doesn't like contact. Thus far it looks as we have wasted a 3 year contract.
We have 2 rucks who can't play forward and new ruck rules work against them.

HOK. I want to keep him for another year incase he turns things around.
He was better last year after missing 3 months hamstrung.
He completed a full preseason and his hands are harder than ever and he's not jumping at CB.

There's a reason we use our one and only KPF in the ruck
There's a reason we added Riley as our 5th Ruck option.

Conundrum. Do we roll the dice with Riley?
Lucky Reeves will miss another game this week.

Bondi, The reason it won't work for us at this minute, is we don't have a ruckman that can rest forward like others. Yes, we did have one but he left.
Pitto and Reidy just don't add much there. I thought Reidy might but it doesn't look like it.
HoK maybe but needs to show/step up in the VFL.
Riley maybe but again is too raw and needs to show he can play forward in the VFL. He can clunk one though.

Missed watching the game live due to a family dinner, so ended up watching the replay until 1am. I thought it was great to see the team find a way to win when they were playing badly and things weren’t gonna g our way with umpiring, clearance work and shots on goal.

I’ll take a butt ugly win over any good looking loss any week of the season.

My evening mirrored yours. Avoided seeing the scores while Lil' Miss Wojee and her fiance were over for dinner and watched the replay after they left just before midnight.

From the start it looked like one of those games where we were going to struggle. We just seemed a little off the pace and Richmond were up and about. Even after the team pulled their fingers out and started to get the ascendency you just knew it was going to go down to the wire. Some missed marks and shots at goal and then two complete umpiring howlers and I was expecting a loss, but the players dug in and forced stoppage after stoppage and really ground it out. They say good teams find ways to win when they're not playing their best, and while we're not yet a "good" team winning these sort of games is how we get there.

Gosh Wojee.
Talk about a constant.
Lil' Miss Wojee has been a fixture on TC for 2 decades.

In my mind she's 10yo still going to the footy with her dad.
She's a grown up, and Engaged !!!! Congratulations.

And you still refer to her a 'Lil Miss Wojee.
