Difference is Hardwick changed his game plan and you could say he changed the way AFL was played back then by going small ball in the front half and using role players to do the dirty work and let the big names flourish.
Voss is stubborn and has not changed his contested game plan since he has arrived which worked well for 2 years until the Afl teams went to work on us and now he has nothing.

I don't think it's true that he hasn't changed, we've seen the team working on a transition game, we've seen them do more movement by hand, the blind over-the-head handballs (*cough* THROWS *cough*). At times it has worked, and we're also playing to the final siren better than we did early rounds, but now our new thing is having 5 minutes of centre circle obliteration where we ship 6 goals. It's whack-a-mole day, every day.

Along with Gale and ONeill they new how to solve the problem

The problem is the board at Carlton
Even if a correct decision is made by the various football departments the board overrides it because there more interested in money and image
Go back to when Malthouse was there
He wanted Carrazzo and Scotland as the leaders but the board overrides said no Marc Murphy is our captain because we want his head on the merch etc etc
And when a board members term winds up they will nominate another person cut from the same cloth
We are doomed until we get the right people run this club
If Balme was at Carlton he would tell the board to get [REDACTED]

Agree. Mentally weak from the top down. We should have had an injunction on them as soon as we heard the proposed changes.

I was on the more list issues and recruitment failures of past coming to roost more than totally Voss fault.

BUT, I can't do it anymore. This grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory might have been OK one or two times, but its now 5 times. It is seriously hurting me mentally and I can only imagine the impact on our players, let alone our supporters and members and membership numbers!

Voss has to go and I don't think it can wait until the end of this season. It needs to happen b4 the next game

Perfectly said. You can only support someone or something for so long. I was the same until late last year.
Unfortunately, the new person will need to do a fair amount of reprogramming above the shoulders.
GW & CD will need to pick wisely.

I agree with both Voss and Austin going.
I would really love to know why we have lost too many good players in recent years. I remember when Voss was coach at Brisbrane and they lost4-5 good players in the one year. Maybe he is the problem.
He seems to be a decent bloke but he has had 2 chances now and simply isn't good enough.
Regarding our membership numbers, they are down a fair bit from last year.

i honestly think we finish bottom 2 with tigers. so our pick alone would be enough to get walker, yeah?

Well, it certainty looks that way now. I would say the club didn't believe we would finish bottom 6 in the preseason. Sad, sad state.

voss puts on a good show in front of the cameras. behind them, he's an intense stress head. that level of intensity and stress just doesn't sit well with many people he comes across.

it served him well as a player and a captain of his peers; but not so much as a coach of a generation of kids he has little in common with.

hardwick's big knock was that he was too intense. he spent an offseason in USA looking at various sports programs there, and spent a large amount of time with sports psychs and mindfulness gurus.

he came back a changed person and was able to marry up his sheer intensity to win, and his new found communication skills, mindfulness and education about leading young men. the playing group ( mostly behind dusty and cotch), bought in 1000% and the rest is history.

that summer in the states and an ability to do what many never can through a whole lifetime - fundamental change at his core - is what saved hardwick's job, and what makes him a rare instance.

i understand some here would love to give voss more time and compare him to hardwick who was afforded time ... but hardwick himself had to make a seismic shift into who he was, to keep his job beyond that summer.

compare to voss. who spent his last offseason indulging in Fiji's delights to unplug and get away from the burning world of afl coaching.

and therein lies the difference between hardwick and michael. hardwick chose growth, voss chose escape.

Not sure I'd be going to the US to learn to be less of a cauliflower these days, mind
