Agreed, over the years we've tried to be too clever, picking forwards for everything but their ability to put the ball through the sticks. Hayward gives us one dependable set shot (touch wood, and don't go around the body for any more 30m, slight angle shots please), I've not seen enough of Ainsworth to know how he rates on set shots but overall he has 62.38 from the last 3 years which is promising. Those two, Gov, ZWill and Evans would surely give us a better conversion rate, and aside from Gov you'll get good pressure too.

Yes BV, all 4 are cringeworthy.
Talor Byrne in for Fogarty if fit enough, already looks like someone who wants to kick goals.

Cripps, even though he got 32, is a real problem.
We can't play him around the centre square too much, he is a liability delivering into the 50, and his set shots are not good enough.

imo cripps needs to be a FT ruck. he could be one of the more skilful, ballwinning rucks in the comp. as a pure mid, he can't chase. and as a forward he can't kick.

pittonet getting 1 possession in the whole 2nd half won't cut it. plus he will break down soon, as history tells us. cripps rucking would make us much more mobile thru the middle too.

on the topic of our forwards. watching the hawks last night is how a forward line is meant to operate. if 5'4" wizard can run up and lead to the ball like a CHF, i don't know why our guys can't - especially mckay.

they all stand there like oranges in a fruitbasket waiting for the ball to drop on their head in big contests; and then watch the ball rebound back the other way at 100mph. rinse and repeat for 4 qtrs. it's been this way forever under voss. it's maddening.

anyone else concerned we gave walsh another 8 years, and the guy cannot kick the footy on the run to save himself?

Maybe it didn't happen and I dreamt it but I remember in a recent game Sam Walsh took possession in the centre had a couple of bounces and I think a handball and handball receive and the kicked a long goal while running at speed. But if he can't kick a ball to save himself, I must have been dreaming.

my guy. he did it once in a preseason game. be great if he could do it once or twice a game, like the other A-grade mids in the comp. then he'd be worth an 8 year deal.

i'm not sure he's the same player he was in season 1 & 2 since he hurt his back. and even less sure he will be that player again.

Kemp, McKay, Fogarty, Cripps. Does anyone have any confidence in these blokes kicking a goal when they're inside 50? You can't carry so many blokes in your forward line who are wasteful, poor shots at goal. The game is hard enough getting it there without pissing it away.
Give me McGovern or Williams over any of them in the forward 50.

60-44 inside 50s to Richmond.

65% of Possession was in Richmond’s front half for the second half.

1 goal for the entire second half.

Against RICHMOND FFS.

What’s also been forgotten is they were missing Nick Vlaustin who is by far their best defender and most experienced head.

But according to Voss we were wearing our jumpers with pride and smiling after that. @#$%&! spare me with the gaslighting bs!

Watching Melbourne and even North yesterday made it even more depressing.

O me miserum

Pessimism is a mental attitude characterized by an inclination to emphasize adverse aspects of situations, expecting the worst possible outcome. It involves a tendency to assume negative results, often viewing them as inevitable. This mindset can be influenced by genetics, trauma, and past experiences, and it is sometimes associated with depression or anxiety

I remain a toxic optimist thank you

Interesting that Tom Brown played in the magoos . Far too good for that level . If he stays out of favour for the rest of the year I would definitely have a chat .

Carlton's Jagga Smith is the round one AFL Rising Star nominee.
