To me this contest is the Jagga Smith V Harvey Langford show . Two brilliant young footballers vying for who is the better player from there draft . I had Jagga just a smidgin ahead of Langford . Just . Maybee by a nose in a close photo finish . . Can't wait to see how they perform in this match .

Aside from the fact we seen it last week and again this week, I will try and see if I can find the article or video.........not really sure on the medium as it was a few months back.
But there is plenty out there about the two of them driving up training standards in the pre-season.

Good to get an idea of an essential first year player v second year players from the same draft.

Fogarty and Young have to be dropped.

Haynes or Derks in for Young.

Evans or Byrne for Fogarty.

I'd persist with Kemp and Elijah. Too much talent to write them off this early in the season, and we've seen them play good footy before.

Although somehow I'd like to see both McGovern and Williams stay up forward, so maybe Kemp makes way for whichever of Haynes or Derks didn't come in for Young?

I dunno.

Mckay has been flying under the Radar- hardly anyone mentioned him, but he was so terrible last night.... Has not adjusted to being our number one forward.

He is neither marking the ball nor bringing it to ground. His opponents are easily running off him like he is not there!


This Second half BS seriousely has to change... How many times has it happened before? its been happening all of last year and it continues this year! Surely it can't just be a Coaching thing?

The Players that can't perform for a full Game needs to be dropped! any unfit player must never get a Game.


As for Voss, this guy is in total denial. He thinks the World is attacking him & the Club... He does not want to hold accountability nor responsibility for the Fade outs!!

The world is not attacking him, just Carlton fans

Before the Season began, I predicted that we were going to be an 8 Goals a Game Side. So far, that's exactely what has happened....

So where will the Goals come from? how can we manufacture a Winning Score?


** Mckay- All out of sorts and does not even look like kicking a Bag

** Kemp & Moir: No where near it. No consistancy and fail to register more than a goal too often

** Hayward/Ainsworth: Small forwards- Can't do much a Goal or two

** Fogarty: Gone backwards- can't even kick straight anymore

So where will our Goals come from? its embarrasing that our Ruckman Pitto is leading our goal kicking after two rounds. Our midfielders don't kick enough goals because they are so awful at kicking for Goal.


Temporarily Solution: Put McGovern & Williams Forward & take Kemp back!

Other than that, I can't see any other Fix.. We are doomed for 2026 until we find a replacement for Charlie or a Forward that can kick +50 Goals a year!

Agreed goals are a concern. But Curnow only scored 32 of them last year, while Hayward and Ainsworth scored 29 and 23 respectively. And Curnow was a liability in most other aspects of the game while the new boys give us more combativeness and accountability. Now, Curnow could very easily score 70 goals this season with all the opportunities the elite midfield open up for him, but don't be fooled, he'd be around the 32 mark again if he stayed at Carlton. In any case, the twin spearhead model didn't make us a scoring machine, and the game is trending towards teams with an even spread. Geelong had IIRC six players with 30+ goals last season, Brisbane had four or five, we had one. I'd like to see what we can do with McKay, Hayward, Ainsworth, Evans and Williams as our scoring leaders. Where we do seem lacking is aerial presence in the F50, really need HOK and Reidy to improve rapidly, or see what DDMJ has got.

Yes 2025 was a poor year for Charlie and for the club.
The previous 3 seasons were 64, 81, and 57 respectively where we made finals or just missed.
He was a huge part of the bomb, bomb, bomb game plan... and now he's gone which has forced a change in strategies for '26.

We need to find 60 goals from other sources.

* I like the look of Dean and I’m comfortable with him not playing seniors every week in his first season. He seems a little vulnerable against the high ball coming in at the moment, and hasn’t quite got the fitness to play out a full game yet, so he makes way for Haynes as the third tall defender. Dean’s time will come. Let’s not kill him.

* Some people are saying to drop L.Young for Haynes, but they don’t play the same role. Derksen is the one who might replace L.Young, and maybe we’ll pull the trigger on that. But I suspect not yet.

* If Evans isn’t ready, then Byrne or F.Young to replace Fogarty. Given we’re struggling to run out games, I understand the club’s hesitancy to rush Byrne (an exciting prospect) into the side. Some clubs are able to ‘carry’ certain players on limited minutes with the extended bench, but not sure we can stand the impact to our rotations. So I would lean towards F.Young if Evans doesn’t come up.

* Reidy vs HoK is a week to week thing. I’ve gone with Reidy to team up with Pitto against Gawn.

* I’m a supporter of E.Hollands, but he’s getting caught with the ball and his tackles are not sticking. Chesser needs to lift too. O.Hollands survives but he could be the next one to have a spell in the VFL if he’s not careful, possibly for Acres or L.Campo. A fit Cottrell would be handy about now.

* Williams forward/mid please. He doesn’t defend well enough in the backline IMO. Neither does O.Hollands. The timing of Wilson’s injury is a shame. Carroll looks good on a wing but we might need him in defence until Newman is back.

It's never as good as it looks and it's never as bad as it seems.

No doubt the forward line lost some firepower with Charlie going, but the first half of this game shows that when we have the game on our terms, we are capable of putting a score on the board. It’s the supply that’s the issue. Lowest I50 in a half under Voss in the second half of the Tigers game. No forward is going to look dominant in that setup.
