Carrazzo and Davies did enough yesterday to stay IMO. I reckon Norman and Chambers in for Livo and Walks is enough change ATM. No need for panic just yet.

Yep.
Agree with the Ins and Outs there.
But I'd really like to see us exploit Essendon* for their lack of pace.

Chambers will provide the pace - Karl Norman to sit on Lucas, swap with Diggers if need be.

I thought there were also a couple of nice dinky passes to Sporn running forward. Except they ended up not hitting their target, because Sporn didn't run hard to get them for some reason. I like Sporn as a player, but missed a few targets yesterday, made some judgement mistakes, and seemed to lack a little run as well.

pj,

good idea to exploit bummers lack of pace, but i think carazzo played well and should not be dropped.

we were definitely flat, but i reckon carazzo was one of the few that took the wizz-cup intensity into yesterday's game. i was hoping pagan would give him a run in the midfield in the last qtr to give us some much needed vavoom in the midfield.

i reckon pagan will only make the 2 changes forced upon us, with chambers and karl coming in.

however, we really need someone like de luca, t-lo, or fish when he's ready, to be a 3rd tall in attack that hurts the opposition. we need to keep opposition defences a bit more honest and accountable, and not just allow them to double-tripple tag fev. too many times, when forced to look at other options in attack, we went to davies and asked him to outmark guys like colbert

yes i kept thinking so that's why denis got T-Lo. he would have been very handy yesterday as a third option. Or Setanta - because either would have kept the roo defenders honest. Or Lappin maybe instead of Houla forward.

Davies is not a bad mark, but he really needs a run at it. Otherwise he just gets bodied out of the way. It happened a couple of times with Colbert. It also happened a few times in the Wizard Cup.

I look forward to seeing how T-Lo will go. From the start, I was pleased we were able to pick him up so cheaply. He should add a little more 'danger' factor up front. I agree with Dannyboy that Lappin is much more dangerous than Houla up forward. Houla's probably more dangerous as a forward running wingman (as well as his now traditional defensive runner role), in the Chambers role.

Yep, stunning debut from Eddie. Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet, better to hedge our Betts I reckon.

Haha, ouch!

The idea with Davies is when he is playing small forward is to isolate him with the small defender when his overhead smarts will come to the fore.

But Betts as the crumbing forward is an incredible package - an incredibly sure pair of hands in picking the ball from the ground - he also has the uncanny ability of getting the ball on his boot correctly no matter how he has picked the ball up from the ground. A lot of other players waste precious seconds trying to re-position the ball in their hands so they can kick it. Eddie is just plain sublime.

It's bloody exciting having a zippy Fwd pocket in our attack again. :D Especially when you consider our past two great hopes (SeanCharles and Brent Heaver) didn't turn out as expected.

Pagan's Paddock = lot of crumbs for blokes like Eddie! 8)
