Craig to Dees
Quote:
MELBOURNE has won the race to secure the services of former Adelaide coach Neil Craig.

The Dees are poised to announce Craig has signed on to a post as head of the club's football department.

He will act as a mentor to new coach Mark Neeld.

Melbourne beat several teams wooing the sacked Crows coach, headed by Carlton and Brisbane.

My rather ignorant question would be: for the purposes of our trading, do we need someone to have filled Icke's position prior to trade week?

I can't imagine that Swanny wouldn't have been up to his eyeballs in every trade week discussion since he's been here, and would cover off anything required this year.

I don't think the lack of a Footy Manager would in any way impact on what we achieve during trade week, potentially excepting targeting players from the club they would be coming from.

Agreed.

One thing you can always guarantee is that Swann has a plan. He wouldn't allow us to go into trade-week sans footy manager unless:
a) He has a replacement already in mind, or possibly even ready to go
b) He has full confidence that we'll cope without one

He's one cool cat is our CEO. We're in good hands.

SNF curse strikes again.

IIRC the Icke-tension rumours have been around for a few years. NFI how accurate they are though.
