Worth appealing!

A bet each way by the tribunal anyway...guilty and two...should be guilty and four or OFF

Despite all the gloom on teh financials, I reckon they've got the cash to appeal things like this these days. With the Wizard Cup win, increased attendances and the likely payment of some form of the Toshiba sponsorhip whilst securing a replacement, they should have a good result this year.

Lets hope they throw some of that $ at the Communications department and the website! (plus appealling!)

and i agree completly, you can tell by the movement of his hands as soon as he realises where his hands other.

there is nothing in it.

he should get off.

As Graeme Bond suggested Scotland was found guilty of making unnecessary contact to the head - the penalty (and Graeme Bond) should know is either a "Reprimand" at the tribunal or at the time of the incident a "Free Kick". Nothing more.

I would suggest we would be appealing the sentence.

I'm glad they are appealing too. Like I posted earlier, the final verdict from what I heard is that it wasn't deemed eye gouging but rather that he put his hand in Tarkyn's face. Might he get off on the technicality??

I totally agree that if it is eye gouging then he should go as it is a pretty low act. But it's not what the tribunal have actually said.

Hope something goes our way for once - I'm feeling very fragile at the moment!!

I'm with you BGD - Scotland is a fair player so it is worth it.

The Blues are appealing the suspension on the grounds that the AFL Tribunal's decision was affected by 'an error or law' and also that the sanction was affected by 'an error of law'.

So if the Appeal Fails, does he get 3 then? or does it stay at 2?

Technically it can be increased but as far as I am aware that has never happened.

Just on 3AW and Chambers has to come in to the side which makes my other post stupid.

Scotland appeal fails

Samantha Lane
Sportal for afl.com.au

Quote:
Carlton's advocate, lawyer Tony Howard, argued that both the Tribunal and the sanction were affected by several errors of law in the initial hearing.

But following Howard's 80-minute submission on Thursday evening, it took just five minutes for the Appeals Boards - chaired by Peter O'Callaghan - to dismiss the case.

Scotland will now miss the Blues' away matches against Port Adelaide and Fremantle.
