Alright d-day is fast approaching. I trust the club has investigated thoroughly and completed it's due diligence.

Armed with all the facts and the full story, what will the club do?

Do we make a stand and impose harsh penalties (ie long suspensions from AFL) that could potentially severely impact our onfield success in '10?

Or otherwise?

After having some time to reflect, I'm still trying to fathom how this could all eventuate and how everyone (not just the players) could be so foolish.

Something needs to happen but what? As much as I'm still livid, I have to be honest and say that I don't want our onfield success severely jeopardised (assuming of course there is no other incidents that we are not aware of). Some might argue that the players unprofessionalism has already done that.

Shall be a very interested onlooker tomorrow.

Whatever it is they do, they won't tell any of us. As they always have.

I would suspend the culprits for 3 weeks whoever they are because if we dont I think the league will. What pisses me off more than anything is that collingwood and Essendon* players were doing charity work for xmas but not carlton we have to go on a cruise and get blotto. When will our players grow up .I hope Sticks does something we need strong leadership now

Or tell everyone about it in a really ham-fisted way

The great shame of it all is due to [REDACTED] up players 'association' rules we couldn't haul them back in straight away for a dressing down.

Betts - 4 weeks
Houlihan - 4 weeks
Walker - 2 weeks

- Ban on player gatherings (majority of list) not sanctioned and controlled via the club.
- Instant dismissal for Betts and Houlihan on next offence.
- Instant 2 week suspension for next player involved in a negative incident that impacts on the reputation of the club.
- Education obviouslly doesn't work with this lot, too cool for school.

Yep this sounds about right to me.
2 weeks for Walker allows him back for the "must win" Essendon* match.
We can cover for Betts and Houlihan no probs.

My post yesterday re Houlihan and Walker outlined an explanation for their situation, but my post was removed. Probably remiss of me to not include several ''allegedlys''. But from what I've been told,
I'd be amazed if either was suspended.

Since taking office rookie President Kernahan has made two very big calls on Elliott and Fevola. He will continue to make big calls.
The players are returning from distant parts as are AFL officials, Leading Teams and Club people. The gathering of facts will take a day or two, more if there are conflicting stories. TC has has different stories of what happened. Deciding actions to be taken, approval by the Board and consultation with the AFL. Shooting from the hip is risky. It has to be a quasi judicial process if players are to be treated fairly. I'm happy to wait a bit longer.

What stopped them from just getting a taxi home? Is that too difficult?

Anyone suggesting they were being responsible by booking in at Crown after their heroic piss-up is just being silly...

My suspicion is Fevolas departure was the doing of a Swann/Icke/bean counters resolution ...and and sticks still privately has the ear of Jack despite the public facade.

Houlihan was already booked in. The kerfuffle allegdly started when a third party allegedly of the female persuasion allegedly scrolled through Houla's mobile. Not happy with her findings the poo allegedly hit the air conditioning. Walks was allegedly called in for back up, which allegedly made things worse. Sometimes the simplest things go pear shaped, and the Media are happy to create headlines, but not worry too much about the text.

I can tell you, I don't think very much will happen. Which is the disappointing part of it. For mine it will be the usual stock standard crap "If you do it again...then this will happen". I hope I'm wrong though. Get Ron Barrassi to deliver the blasting. The old "SIT DOWN, SHUTUP, AND PAY ATTENTION" would have the players crapping themselves.

The central issue was allegedly created by the alleged behaviour of a third party. But, oh never mind lets just see what tomorrow brings.

The central issue is a lack of standards and approach to modern day professionalism at an elite level... on all levels of the clubs management.

With the widespread level of member awareness and concern at the moment, I'd expect a DETAILED statement either through the press or email on the situation.

Yep, the paid-up members who fork out their money each year deserve a detailed statement of what transpired, the uncensored version so we know where the club is at. We should not be kept in the dark with this one. If we are then a complaint should definitely be made to the club.
