Ian Coutts will be out of the office until Monday January 18th, 2010

That's ok, he can just enjoy 6000 emails for when he gets back

Just smoke and mirror. The read receipt came through ok, so someone is looking or more likely skimming through them.

Seven Stages of Grief.

It is widely accepted that there are seven distinct stages in the grieving process.
The seven stages of grief for a scale that one who has suffers a loss will ascend over time. The seven stages of grief are:

1 Shock or Disbelief
2 Denial
3 Bargaining
4 Guilt
5 Anger
6 Depression
7 Acceptance and Hope

Well we have ripped through the 1st 4 in record time. 5 & 6 may last a tad longer i.e most of 2010. Not sure we will make it to 7 without some drastic measures.

Regards Cazzesman

What is going on there Caz. I can understand one or two players being dumb enough to act up, but this was a function attended by the whole list by the sound of it. What is going on with the leadership group. Why didn't any player take control! If it was just Walks Houla and Betts I'd be disappointed but when the whole team can't do anything to stem binge drinking straight after the club made a huge statement with Fev you wonder whether we have any genuine leaders at all, and you wonder just how endemic the culture is.

I hope Setanta is still a teetotaller- he might be the only guy left on the list soon.

I believe that there was far worst that occurred on the booze cruise (and after the Booze Cruise) that hasn't made the papers.

The great man himself (Fev) was also an invitee I believe but by the sounds of it was one of the better behaved players.

I am not sure if this is a stage of grief but I am completely numb by this whole situation. I am copping grief left right and centre from mates and work colleagues and I have to just sit there and cop it. I have had nothing to do with this except that I support what I thought was a great club but at the moment I just don't have the energy to come back to the deserved taunts I am receiving.

I seriously hope something major changes in this club as a result of this.....

I've heard it all now, guys not renewing memberships due to the latest saga. Are you the same people that abused people for saying people weren't renewing their membership due to Fev being traded?

Carlton Football Club has been around for over 100 years, if no members renew and no dollars put in, then the club will die. If you don't want a club anymore then lets all cancel our memberships and not follow CFC anymore.

It doesnt take much for a club to spiral out of existence.

There is a few bad sods in the club that need to be shown the door or clean their act up fast. This issue will be taken care off and will blow over, you dont have to buy a box of tissues cos the team got drunk and feel all embarrassed.

Come Round 1 no one will care about this event aslong as the boys come out playing well and if you do by round 1 then gee, stop living in the past.

Stay on the blues train.

Goltz ask yourself is it the supporters who don't renew who put the club out of business? or is it the incident(s) that supporters use as the reason not to renew that would put the club out of business? Players and Officials decide if the club lives or dies by the way they behave and perform IMO.

Yep. Punishments will be dished out. New rules will be put in place by the players and we will all get on with it.

This sort of thing happens at loads of clubs. Collingwood, Adelaide, Port Adelaide, St kilda, Essendon* to name a few. The players association need to work hard with all clubs to get on top of things.

Anyone with connections to the club know for a fact whether these antics have definately cost us our rumoured new 1 million dollar sponsorship ? Some guy on BF seems to think it has...

By the way... sunlight IS the best disinfectant.
These people running our club cant stand up to the sunlight...

"We know nothing!!!"

They cant see a crisis if it hit them on the head ...

Sticks will address the players january 4.....
The man who took them all out drinking at the GC...

Ratts the man who thinks Setanta should do more to "fit in with the others" and that his celibacy with alcohol doesnt help him...
Swann says "unofficial Christmas party"
We are being run by outdated people... in an outdated fashion... and its showing big time!!!

I see personal abuse and denigration is still your first priority Synbad!
And a strange response to an irrefutable fact that's inconvenient for you.
How dare anyone have a different view to Synbad!!
Your approach will not solve problems.
Controversial posters start hares running in the media by giving them a free feed. And the hares running are a massive problem for the Club.

I have no explaination GA. The entire Booze Cruise is just mindboggling. In this day and age it beggars belief and totally incomprehensible after the preaseason they have had.

It's like a train wreck that just gets worse every day. 5 days on the front page with the Media having an absolute field day. The Editors must think Christmas came a week early.

I'm shattered. I'm gutted for all this years draftees and their parents. Mrs Caz has shed a tear, no doubt like many others, and I'm not far behind.

Caz

Must be hard seeing how hard many behind the scenes work, and then this to get thrown in their faces. I think (apart from it not happening) many just want to see a more proactive and visual reaction from the club.

We thought (maybe incl yourself?) that once Fev was traded we were on the up and up. Particularly reading some of the training reports.

Hope Santa brings you some answers, but even he may struggle.

Merry Xmas to you and Mrs Caz

To those of you threatening or promising not to renew your memberships...

Think back 3-4 years. Remember the shambles that was Carlton Football Club. If everyone then had torn up their memberships and mailed them into the Club as a protest...

Graeme Smorgon would still be President.
Michael Malouf would still be CEO.
Grant Williams would still be Football Manager.
Chris Judd would be playing with Collingwood.

Change happened because the MEMBERS exercised their rights and forced change.

It is clear that further change is required. Sign up, and use the power you have to create change.

I said it back then, I will say it again - Membership has its privileges.

Thanks Barnsey.

What can get lost in all this, while the 'Calling for Heads' is so prevalent, is there are plenty of fabulous people at the club who would be completely shell shocked by all this. Those that have been working so hard behind the scenes to rebuild the club. So many diehard volunteers who work with the players everyday. Fix them, tend to them, laugh with them, cry with them and above all help them make it onto the ground week in week out.

Those people don't deserve the sadness this entire episode brings. Sure in the grand scheme of things a couple of drunk footballers is nothing but to many those footballers are the centre of their life. The Carlton Football Club represents so much to so many. Everyone of those employees, helpers & volunteers deserves better. They deserve an apology from the leadership group.

Regards Cazzesman

I'm just shocked and gutted by this.

Was disappointed at the news about Houlihan and Walker, but could rationalise two guys having a blue after a night out. Concerned when news about Eddie and Robbo surfaced.

But today's news about tying up Casboult elevates things to a much higher level.

One question that doesnt seem to have been asked yet, but will no doubt get a run over the next 48 hours is - who else was tied up and made to go 'one on one' wth a senior player? I'll be staggered if it doesnt turn out that all eight first year players (maybe 10 if they counted Brock and Hendo) were also 'initiated' in the same way. Doesnt make sense that they would just pick on one guy (in fact if they did, then that would start to look like he had been singled out for bullying).

No matter who the ringleaders were in this it can only be put down to a collective failure of leadership among the whole playing group - at a minimum.

I thnk the club are also going to have to explain just how 'unofficial' this trip really was. Diid the club know about it in advance? Iif they did, what did they have to say about it? Was it the club that assured the boat operaters that the guys would not be a problem? Does the club brief the players on what's expected (or not expected) during their break? (they must do - because last year players got disciplined for not coming back in the condition they were told to).

Obviously there are going to be several guys disciplined, but this goes deeper than 3 or 4 dumb players. The whole group has to share responsibility for allowing this to go on, and if the club knew about the trip then they have a fair bit of self examination to do as well.
