Been thinking about this a little this morning, and generally I am one to say, well they are just dumb footy players, but I think I have had enough. Culture is a word thrown around too much these days, but you have to wonder seriously about the culture of our club. I read a training report last week, which indicated the session was a bit of a joke, coaches and staff alike. We are playing a game now that requires 100% for much of the year, from players and coaches.

Many of you will say that i dont care as long as we win a flag, but I hate to admit it, but i dont think we will while our players continue to act like a bunch of di*Ks!

I say bring on an alcohol ban, full stop, from Jan 1, boys off the piss. You win a couple of finals and talking carlton will put the grog on!!

I am sick of this crap. :hitcomputer: :hitcomputer:

Fevola's priors have nothing to do with these boys. You have to judge them on their own behaviour.
Houlihan's last incident was long enough ago that I'd cut him some slack about it.
There was nothing serious done. It was embarrassing more than shameful as an incident.
I think the club have done the right thing by dealing with it in house. I don't really need to know the punishment as a member.
Fine for both of them with the threat of a suspension for a repeat performance.

...will be a second year player next year from Tasmania(quote)
oh,that's interesting...I heard from a different source that this same player was a complete tool/serial pest at the Bullants game in Port Melbourne....still...ya gotta love that energy On field!
As to Hoops...well i must apologise,it's all my fault...you see,Ryan wanted to sing at the karaoke (again!!!)..and well, apart from the fact he is rather tone deaf...his taste in music also leaves a lot to be desired...so...naturally,I started screaming..(no...ryan..please...don't..)but to no avail...a security guard who'd also heard him sing, decided to help me put a stop to it..then Tex came out...(no not That way!! doh...) and...the rest is history.

This article gives more detail on the circumstances behind the incident.

The club should come down hard on them and announce their punishment or we risk losing some of the ground we made trading Fevola.

We made ground when trading Fevola? :?

Yes.

In this case the ground I'm referring too is about the culture of the club.

A fair proportion of footballers are (at heart) bogans, knobs, idiots, etc... so it's totally in character for these guys to act like knobs when they get on the sauce.

So I'm not surprised that this sort of stuff goes on when they get drunk.

What continually amazes me though, is why professional athletes such as these think that regular binge-drinking sessions should be a part of their lifestyle.

For God's sake, we have two assistant coaches at the club in Craig Bradley and Rob Harvey, who are living proof that if you treat your body properly, you can have a long and sustained career at the top level. Decide to act like you play for your local club, and degrade your body regularly, and you're most likely shortening your career.

The career that pays you in excess of a quarter of a million dollars a year, doing the thing you love most.

Anyone who earns their living as a professional athlete and regularly binge drinks is a moron. It's not about morals, it's about these guys not behaving as professional athletes.

Morons.

I hope they don't suspend these two players for the home and away (if they are still considered in our best 22).

By the time the season begins, without Judd, we will be left with a few Bullant players the way it is going. Maybe Teague will have to pull on the jumper again.

If we were really interested in winning games next season we'd have kept the guy thats won a couple of colemans.

Exactly. And some lazy journalist will read it and think its worth publishing (in some twisted sort of form).

PS why didn't the Herald Sun have the Hurley incident on the front page? Oh, thats right, they all barrack for Essendon* in there...

I don't know who is more hysterical... the HUN or some the posters on here.... "Houlihan has form"... from 2001 FFS. Talk about some dumb comments. Find something else to worry yourselves about :screwy:

Well said. Time for the Blues to decide whether they want to win a flag. If they do, then there are some things they need to do.

For our club's sake, I just hope that some other stuff from the weekend doesn't come out or this place will go into meltdown and there will be alcohol bans demanded by the club for sure. Maybe they need to do it?

This story is not a "massive" deal by any stretch of the imagination, but the total lack of respect shown to the club is really starting to stink.....

FFS if you want to get trashed and act like an ass, get a house out in the middle of nowhere and carry on where you can't bother anyone. I just feel like these guys have a little bit too large of an impression of thier own self importance to give a shit.

Doesnt matter what actually went on...its another incident that has embarrassed the club and made the news.
Both players need decent years on the field and I reckon Houlihan who has some form for past off field issues has probaby put himself in line to be delisted when his contract expires.

I'm a fan of AW and his footballing abilities but its not a good start for a player on the comeback trail who can be a major factor in our success.
He had that incident with driving a while back which was very minor and I was hoping that would be his only blemish, reckon his dad would be dissapointed in him.

There are probably two sides to every story and maybe the Crown officials came on heavy but you just dont put yourself in those situations.
Both players will know they have done wrong and will have to right it on the field and off the field for next season....if they dont I can see one being delisted and one on the trade table..lets hope it doesnt come to that and we get some inspired perfomances from the both of them....

Don't forget about the Didak incident in Las Vegas,

Have heard a lot of stories about player behaviour over the break, but it seems Carlton players antics are the only deemed worthy of front page coverage.

That said I agree that the behaviour is unacceptable, alcohol and elite sport does not mix. Period. As a 47yr old who still trains on a six day week schedule in the gym and Dojo. I often get asked "what is the secret" Answer, I eat clean, don't drink 'cept for a scotch on Friday night and make sure I do all the little things regarding recovery. If I as a fulltime working professional and a keen amauter athlete, then I would expect the doofas's that get paid a bucket load more than I do as professional athletes can do the same.

Memo Carlton Players:

Please stop putting yourself in these positions. You are professional sportsmen, not the local footy club rabble on an end of season playfest.

Act with dignity and respect in public always.

Pull your heads right in or face the full ire of the membership and the club. I don't want to read any negative press - no matter how trivial.

This Club should not be putting a foot wrong as it hopefully enters one of its greatest eras. This kind of episode should be unacceptable to everyone. How damn embarrassing to a club that should be putting its best foot forward on all occassions - particularly as we have so much to prove this year both on and off the field.

Just plain dumb

But,.........but..........but................. I thought Brendan being traded would end all this. After all, it was 100% his fault and was not a result of the bad culture we have at the club. Our culture and attitude is fine, nothing to worry about?

Surely this can't be true.

Maybe Brendan was there with them? He probably took them there. It's STILL all Fev's fault.
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Honestly, we need to wake up and realise that we have a problem at this club and if we don't address it soon we will only end up going backwards.

Honestly, i say susspend them for the first 2 matches of the season and fine them $10k each.

BUT - I DEMAND the entire club, From Sticks down to the bootstudder have a good hard look at themselves.

WE NEED CHANGE.

I'd rather have a chat with these two than the Save Fevola group who have crawled out of the woodwork.

They dropped the ball with an end of training piss up, yet Mad Monday is celebrated by the media and supporters alike.

Go figure.

Houlihan may have confused Crown's laundering of money with his dry cleaners, so he ran around in his jocks carrying the rest of his clothes.

He couldn't find their laundry.

Houla should really stay away from any business that make money by cleaning.
