Ahhh yeah rumours have been circulating that Justin Murphy will be re-drafted via rookie draft, and also Suiyoko Judd (no relation to chris) will get picked up from the hong kong dragons.....

Too early to post a full team - I'll wait for a few scratch matches.

What I will say is:

- Armfield and Russell look to be the two shoe-in half back flankers based on what I saw at the end of 2009. They really looked good there and we need some stability and continuity back there;

- Heard from a very good source that Hendo earmarked to play forward in 2010 - don't bother about CHB for him;

- Fair chance Tex will spend more time in the midfield w/out Juddy in the first 3 rounds - the extra responsibility could be the making of him as a mid, the Kouta No 2 we were promised when he was drafted (see plan B below);

- Would love both Tex and Waite inside 50, alternating b/w the HFF and FF. Will create havoc in this role; and

- Any club that can have forward line options of the likes of Waite, Betts, Tex, Yarran, Hendo, Garlett, Carrots, Kreuzer, Hammer, Houla, O'Hailpin, Aussie (?), etc is going to be a force to be reckoned with. The only hard bit is WHEN the MC will get the right combo from this lot, not IF they will. Hell, it will be worth the wait when they do. :smoking:

Been thinking about something similar, but with an old Pagan move from his Kangas days, when he used to swap FF John Longmire with the wing for bursts. Created a bit of a mismatch with his size on the wing. How about Waite at FF (given it seems the club intends to play him forward next year) and Walker on the wing, swapping for a rotation?

Line-up something like:

Armfield Jamison Thornton
Houlihan Bower Russell
Simpson McLean Walker
Gibbs O'hAilpin Yarran
Kreuzer Waite Betts
Warnock Judd Murphy
Carrazzo Hadley Joseph Scotland

Geez we have some nice options now. The bullants team is full of different types of players, which is the way it should be.

Very exciting !!!!!! Has Martin Pike been replaced yet?, as that position is very important to develop the boys in the bullants.

Hard to get the first round pick into a fit team at present.

You can't fit him into the Bullants starting 22?
I hope you're wearing gloves Jim.
It could get messy with all the piss you're taking.

Ah, I see we got confused. Have another look at that Bullants team I put there, roundabout the wing. Thought you were talking our best senior 22.

How many times have you been told about that whiskey bottle...lol!

Same way as he hasn't been included there previously by the club. I don't mind him as a player, certainly a fair way from a gun though, but who do you take out.

Pretty spot on jim, although i'd have army instead of aussie based on 09.

Hopefully aussie ramps it up a notch next year

Anderson in for one of Houlihan, Russell or Scotland.........take your pick.

Otherwise pretty close to the mark

Looking good especially when you see the names that can't make the team.

Let the rest prove themselves to force their way in. Carrots maybe for Hadley but Hadleys grunt wins him a spot.
Yarran ahead of Robbo for his ability to turn something into nothing. No 206 until he is fit. Maybe Setanta for Hadley/Garlett if you wanted another tall/3rd pinch hit ruckman on the bench.

Regards Cazzesman

Like it Cazz, at the very least by virtue of the fact that it is near identical to my own listed team. ;)

Are you nominating Simmo as VC or is he now VC??

Personally, I prefer Carrots in for Hadley to make use of his versatility. Not sure if we need a second inside mid who is on the slower side. Plenty of our boys can win the ball, especially after another pre-season.

Ok, so my best 22 is set in my mind, with Browne or Lucas to come into the mix for Judd's spot while he's suspended. Search for it if you're curious.

Was a bit bored this morning, so decided to construct my best reserve 22. It's an interesting exercise for those who are unsure of what our list deficiencies are, and highlights who our key first-team players are in terms of the structure of the side.

Without further ado:

FB: Anderson White(r) Dare(r)
HB: Wiggins Austin Davies
CC: Johnson Browne Grigg
HF: Robinson O'hAilpin Lucas
FF: Tiller Fisher Kerr

RR: Warnock Hadley Ellard(r)

Int: Jacobs O'Keeffe Cachia(r) Tuohy(r)

Unlucky: Casboult(r), Donaldson(r)

Some notes:

- No true small defender
- Only one small forward
- Two full back prospects (checked it out: Dare & White are genuine talls)
- Perhaps lacking a genuine FF option, but two missed out
- Surprisingly good skill level on paper
- While not choc full of genuine talls, it's a very tall team

Give it 12 months, and that side would function without Fisher, Wiggins & Johnson. Still needs an injection of smaller types, while looking to develop tall options. Anderson is in real trouble if he can't man smaller types, because there's a litany of blokes who can play his medium defender role at least his level.

Plenty of players who could develop into inside mids as well.

Now for the hit list:

Crunch year
---------------------

Wiggins
Fisher
Anderson
Johnson
Ellard (r)
Grigg

Elevation prospects
---------------------

White
Dare
Cachia
Garlett

Trade bait
---------------------

Jacobs
Grigg

Sounds like it will be a four-man race for the second nominated rookie slot, unless Garlett completely falls off the wagon. He has a starting 22 slot stitched up at this point, so it seems unlikely.

Cachia is reportedly thriving in a professional environment; Dare needs polish, but can play medium/tall defender, has closing speed and a good head on his shoulders. White seems to be a more physically mature version of Dare.

Ellard has worked hard, but is too small and skinny to be a genuine inside mid proposition, which seems to be where he plays his best football. I would prefer him to be an injury elevation, as we have more pressing needs for depth at FB, medium defender and inside mid. If he morphed back into a small forward and could crack it at AFL level, look out.
