Further to the AGM, none of the upcoming agreements with the pubs are joint ventures. We are merely waiting for the present agreements to expire (i.e. Victoria Inn - Bulldogs and Royal Oak - Tigers) before we take over!

Swanny and Sticks both spoke very graciously of Michael Spartels!

I still go to the same Art Galleries, Museums and Zoos around Australia, even if I have already seen them. Institutions with exhibitions are inspirational. I want the players to see our 'all' everyday they walk through the Visy Park doors.

Dare I say it, but the Essendon* museum at Windy Hill is sensational. It even has its own curator. Would be fabulous to have a full museum at the updated Princes (Visy) Park.
Do you feel dirty

I want nothing to do with the Royal Oak...I think this is abhorrent of the Club to be involved with such a place. It turns me off being a member of the Carlton Football Club.

Very good question. Synbad - you are a prolific poster here. Can you please respond? Surely you view the AGM as your perfect opportunity to put on public record your views & thoughts on the future of our great club.

One other thing I forgot to mention - membership is currently at 10,000 +

Same time last year it was about 6,500.

That's strange.
I renewed my membership last Friday and the membership department said we were 700-800 ahead at the same time last year.

Any particular reason. I've never been there so don't have a clue what you might be alluding to.

Yep, I'd really like a real world Blueseum to get up.

He's currently having a bit of rest. I expect we might hear from him on Thursday night.

Anything on who the major sponsors will be for next year?

I button-holed Swan afterwards and asked him about this. He said he would have liked to have announced it that night, but told me to stand by for an announcement soon. I also brought up the sponsor that Collingwood hand-balled to us. "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts", I said. His was funnier.

Apparently Football Victoria are moving into The Gardiner Stand, and also the MCC will be moving their depot from elsewhere in the ground to there as well. I didn't ask about any shortfalls in rent.

You're thinking of The Royal on Punt Road, and it's snaggletoothed strippers. The Royal Oak is on the corner of Bridge Road and Burnley Street.

You can't be fully supporting snaggletoothed strippers, otherwise where's my money going?

'Fraid not Alec...I'm thinking of the same one...I live just up the road over the Bridge (West Hawthorn). It's not a pub in essence, it's a pokie venue dive of a place that lends itself to undesirables who through some fault of their own throw their hard earned (or not so hard earned) into a machine never to see it again. Its success in getting the 'down and outers' through its door prompted a Cash Converters to be put up in a nearby location, which is a glorified Gold Coast pawn brokers. I'd rather we didn't go down the pokie venue route to keep the coffers full. If it fails and blows up in their faces, it serves them right.

I don't know the pub in particular, but agree with the sentiment of Doc's post.

Pokies, in some circumstances, can be an ordinary way of making money.

Personally, I don't go near the wretched things.

Club Laverton is no different. Laverton isn't the wealthiest of suburbs around either, although Point Cook is across the road.

We need our own museum, if other clubs can afford one why will it be a drain on our club?

We have the proudest history in the AFL it should be there for all to see and enjoy.

TC I know you can make it happen!!!
