Thought it would be worthwhile to show our list, in terms of player's ages.

Had to draw the line somewhere, so I decided if a player's bday is in June or earlier, then their bday in 2010 gets included in their age, whereas if their bday is in July onwards, their bday in 2010 does not get included in their age. If that makes any sense.

If you look at the ages of recent flag lists, I'd suggest that our window would open in about 2 years time (3 max). Thats when our early picks are largely 23+ with a good strong older/seasoned 27+ group (ie judd, waite, houlihan/scotland, carazzo, simpson, thornton)

Good thread.

Thanks DUC for your list.
I'm a visual person because I have to deal with data and spreadsheets for many hours each day.

The point made is we are young by age but great with talent.

The other point to consider is we have depth.

Like many others I have CFC list spreadsheets, and when age/ height are considered we have a Golden Decade ahead of us.

I believe in this list. IMO in terms of class, it's better than 2000 (the best we had in the last decade).

Whose age suggests they are on the way out?

Obviously attention is drawn to the older players.

Scotland 1-2 years (I suspect 2010 is it as the younger brigade surpass him)
Houlihan 2-3 years (he was our best in the final)
Hadley 1-2 years (question marks on his body)
Wiggins 1 year (I suspect 2010 is his last; depth player)

Waite, Setanta and Houlihan imo will be at their peak as senior players in the next 2-3 years and will play in a GF.

The Golden Decade starts in 2010.

Yikes!

We have no-one in the vital 25 to 25 age spread.

Interesting thread . Good stuff .

There's certainly plenty of talent there to make use of . Good experienced players , huge talent in the early 20s , and the younger squad look OK too .

Up to the coaches from now on .

kkk I haven't seen your signature before, I remember Cliffy Stewart, blonde wingman of the 1960s. Underrated. Didn't he get sick or something and have to retire?

I think the other thing this list shows, is we have so much youth we can probably afford to use the $1M spare in the cap and trade away some picks for proven, elite talent.

Would you happily part with our first 2 picks next year for say a Roughead?

yup - easily. Roughhead would have a good 7-8 years left.

I'd part with 1st 3 rounds of picks. Hawks wouldnt take it though

Here we go, multiple pages on getting Roughead

No chance in hell we'll get him, its fine to speculate but lets be realistic.

Can't remember if it was rheumatic or glandular fever.

Probably not helped by Des Tuddenham knocking him out every time we played Collingwood.

Pretty sure it was glandular fever. Gutsy and skillful player

Didn't realise Hadley was that old. I like him as a player and what he can add to our squad. But he'd want to make a decent impact this year, or his career might be in some jeapordy.

Scotland, Houlihan, Wiggins and Fisher. Real testing year for these blokes. Hadley as well but he was in some good form towards the end of last year.

O'hAilpin is 27??? I didn't know that, thought he was a few years younger.
Although, I am liking the patch of players we have around 24 years of age. Premiership window opening indeed!!

People might want to look at that list from time to time during the season.

Despite having talent and promise, it'll be important to remind ourselves that Henderson is younger than Grigg, Joseph, Robinson, Jacobs... etc. We shouldn't expect too much too soon.
