OK...i've taken the bait.

Some peanut on SEN said we were going to grab Ball with pk 12.

Obviously on the wacky backy, but i pose the question....who would we prefer?

I'll take .05

I think Ball is perhaps better by hand and a smarter player, but nowadays McLean has him on pace, agility, marking ability, foot skills.

They're both tough and tenacious inside mids, but given the choice I would opt for McLean.

I heard that also and thought this guy was nuts.

David Schwarz said that this would be a 1000 to 1 bet. (Don't know if he put money on it or not)

..no contest.. .... ..Ball's talked up alot cos he played fer the sainters, and went number 2 when he was touted as possible no1.. .... ..good leadership, tough inside mid.. ..but he's way off his prime, and his body makes it questionable if he'll ever regain his prime, or get close to it.. ..modern game tactics of high midfield rotations don't suit his game style.. ..a player that may not get a full career due to changing game tactics; in a different way [diff reasons] but similar to Lance in that respect..

..McLean isn't talked up as much cos he went pick5, and played for the dee's who have been shizen these past few years, and aren't as marketable a club.. ..but he's captain material like Ball, is just as tough inside, with added mongrel.. ..is quicker, i'd argue a smarter/better reader of the play.. ..can kick longer, mark higher, run further, two yrs younger!!.. ..and we get a player we just may have picked up if we didn't lose that pick, that year.... ..which is nice in it's own way..

I wouldn't want a player who didn't want to be there.
As both are tenacious and tough ball getters..I'd just like to appreciate Mc.Clean...who we actually have...who is showing us his teeth so to speak...and who wants to play for our mighty club.

I'm sure if we actually targeted Ball, we'd surely be able to convince him to choose us. Just look at how we got Brock Stock to turn his back on the Dees.

With that I think Ball could single handedly win games more emphatically than Brock would be able to, but I think Ball has more of a chance to be caught out during the length of a season. Brock would be more consistent and capable in knowing what to expect from game to game.

If we were a top three team looking to push ourselves over the top, then Ball would be our guy. If we are where we are right now then Brock is the way to go.

Nah...I really think Ball just wants to play with Dick and the others.
I guess he could be worried that Goldsac would show him up..but basically...who wouldn't want a pre season in Arizona and a red hot go at the flag next year...

Thery are both very talented players, but Brock has him covered for pace and is a few years younger than him so He would be my choice....

Is Brock quick...or quick compared with Ball??

I must admit, my image of him is having the ball and getting caught while he's running to dish it off...(Not unlike Bentick!)...mind you I don't follow a lot of others until they are Blue Boys!

all this talk about mclean being so quick is making me laugh. he would be average pace at best.

for our current situation mclean is definately our man, but in saying that, in both players prime (pre-injury) i would have no hesitation in taking ball.

OH AND I HEARD CARLTON ARE TAKING BALL WITH PICK 12!

..he's quicker than Ball, but no McLean isn't known for his express pace.. ..he's a touch under avg speed i would say.. ..not too slow, he's at times 'speedy' cos he just knows where to be, or in a pack he might be that half-step ahead cos of footy smarts..
