Carlton Football Club Awaits Renewal Of Tourism Malaysia Sponsorship

A bit of patience required for 2010 merchandise it seems.

120,000 unique addresses a month hitting the CFC site.

Equates to a max of 1440000 uniques addreeses a year.

Even if it is 250,000 individuals a year, that's 250,000 browsers of say 700,000 supporters who would tune in with interest to a sponsor's message.

Good value being a Carlton sponsor.

Think about all the prime time games on FTO and Foxtel CFC will feature in during the 2010 season.

The dollars should really come in next year from all channels and pay off our small debt.

Lets get some savings in the bank: CFC Future Fund.

Could just as easily be the same 120,000 each month.

I know what you mean, and saw that.
I suggested a 'maximum' potential based on the numbers.
To suggest though that it could 'easily' be the same is too simplistic.

There's 700.000 supporters of CFC and countless opposition supporters too.
I have no doubt that the site is not exclusively frequented by Carltonians.
I have no doubt that there's more than 120,000 unique addresses who view the CFC site each year based on the numbers.

The point is that 120,000 is a good reach and if it were 250,000 of the potential 1.4M (less than 20% of the max) than that's a very good result for Sponsors.

There's something very attractive about CFC for the public; naturally for Carltonians but opposition supporters too.

Carlton may lose Malaysian sponsorship

Quote:
CARLTON'S lucrative sponsorship deal with Tourism Malaysia is yet to be renewed for next season.

In arguably the competition's most lucrative sponsorship arrangement, the Blues received $1.6 million last season from the contract, which expired late last month.

I transferred over to Optus and have bought a Hyundai car.... so I guess I have done my little bit to help Carlton along, but I guess unless you let these companies know that is the reason you have purchased their product they are in the dark about it and don't know how valuable their sponsorship is.

I haven't been to Malaysia on the back of Carlton's sponsorship arrangement, but at least I think it has created awarenesss of the product. I have been there before and found Penang pretty interesting for all the colonial history stuff.

The comic book article states that Tourism Malaysia haven't yet signed up for next season, and that if they don't we'll have to look for another sponsor.

Yet another moment of great insight from the publisher of printed loo paper.

I'm in Kuala Lumpur at the moment and discussed our new sponsor with the locals.

without saying who was now sponsoring the Club, my local business partners correctly guessed it was Tourism Malaysia.

the current PM of Malaysia is "retiring" in March 2009 and one of his most loyal supporters is the Tourism Minister.

so the locals take on it is a case of "spend" as much as you can while you still have power and suppport from the current PM.

this is how Politics work in this country, the outgoing Tourism Minister is spending as much of his budget while he still has the support of the PM.

So once the new PM takes office in 2009 he'll bring in his own Ministry and the current Toursim Minsiter will lose his job and as a result the sponsorship will unlikely continue on beyond next year.

So it's a short term arrangement clouded by the local political scene.

The new tourism minister is unlikely to continue on with this sponsorship as it wasn't his decsion in the first place.

Unless the Club can sweet talk their way in continuing this arrangement we'll see this deal end at the end of the 2009 season.

This was posted in December last year. Looks like it is pretty spot on.

Yes....i hate to say it, but....i told you so

Given the change to the Tourism Minister earlier this year no matter how successful this sponsorship was, it wasn't going to be renewed.
Malaysian Politics. Simple as that.

Most Malaysians don't even know that they sponsor Carlton.

Still the 1.6m came in handy. Quite liked Malaysia for the three months I was there. It is seriously underated as a destination. Preferred it to Thailand and Singapore. I will go back at some point.

So will I.....if they continue to sponsor Carlton FC.

The key issue is that finding a $1.6 M sponsor is VERY difficult in these times. I think this one was the biggest single sponsor agreement in the AFL last year. So I assume that Swan & Co are working in overdrive at the moment.

I think they know. Sounds like they got a bargain to me.

Presumably the club would of understood this and wouldn’t (or shouldn’t) be banking on it be renewed.

Therefore I would hope that alternative arrangements are being made that are as fruitful to the club.

Anyone have any insight? Should we be worried?

If we pick up Matt Macguire it will most likely be a company from the "health sector".
