We dees from demonland and demonology have organised an after-match get together at The Park Hotel, 191 Nicholson Street, Abbotsford…

This is to follow on after any bbq or whatever at the ground so as not to interfere with other forums’ plans…

Hope as many posters from here can make it for a drink and a chat…

Congratulations to all the organisers on all the forums…

This event is coming together really well…

There are always a few people in every team who suffer from white-line fever, but the umpires will have the power to order players off the field for dissention, fighting, shirt-fronts, and over-aggressive tackles that may be OK in competitive footy matches but don’t belong in social games…

Barnesy, if there is anything I can do to help you guys out, just ring...

Regards,

Rollo

Better to be there at 12:30pm.

Unfortunately I just cant play - too many commitments and an exam on Friday.

This is a great opportunity to cement and promote round robin football forums games.

Lets get there and make it work, ideally something of this nature at least once, possible twice a year (before xmas and once after) would be fantastic for so many reasons:

mateship with own forum users
mateship with opposition forum users
live out your dream of having a kick in a blues jumper
competitiveness and fun all wrapped up together
supporting a concept from the ground roots.

This will be the only time i cant play under these circumstances, but happy to help organise and be a contact point. It is important that I have support in this area, and understand I have not been able to commit to this game as I would have liked in terms of updates, rev ups, follow ups etc.....

A big thank you to the other forums and their organisers (hats off to Rollo), who have made their forums organised and enthusiastic, and organised grounds, umpirers, scorers etc and generally built what you will see tomorrow.

At the blues we started off slow years ago, built a fortress against the pies at the Lexus Centre and dropped away for a number of reasons recently.

This is our chance to make a stamp on this concept.

Talk about it, breath it, work hard tomorrow and lets make this survive.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck tomorrow,

My understanding is PJ (John) will help out.

Cheers

barnesy

We will fight them on the beaches.

We will fight them anywhere.

I'm glad we've got St.Kilda as our first up match. I hate them. I hate them with a passion. I hate everything, if there is anything, that their club stands for.

I look at their jumper and I want to throw up.

However, I do love playing this mob; this rabble. I love sticking it up them and rubbing their noses in their own demise. Sure we've got a little history with the Collingwood, Essendon*, Hawthorn and Melbourne forums, but since we battled Saintsational first on that stinking hot day out at Glenferrie Oval and sent them packing to the tune of 108 points, I have always looked forward to smacking them around the chops again and again. And sure they have got a couple of wins over us over the journey, but that just makes me want to smash them twice as harder.

So, to all you who are daring to dream tomorrow and donning the Navy Blue, I ask you to stand up and fight this mob hard. Fight them so hard that they will have to forfeit the losers vs. losers match. Because that's what they are - losers.

And tomorrow we will be winners.

:fight: :fight: :fight:

Cheers to the guys who rocked up today and slogged it out in not so ideal conditions.

Beat the Saints by a good couple of goals which is always fun to do.

We faced the Dees after that and had them on toast for quite some time, but they powered on and beat us by a couple of goals in the end.

Best players for mine were Cody, Little Chrissy Carrazzo, Paulie Bond, Rhino and our ruckmen in the last game.

Great effort guys - hope the concept is good and well worth it -

PJ how were numbers?

We need to look at another go in Feb if we can - but a 10 am start in case of hot weather?

It was a good concept and well worth attending I thought.

Numbers were down a little for us. Had to borrow 4 blokes in the last game against the Demons, however, to each teams credit, they were only too happy to lend us a few. Cheers for that Rollo.

Had a couple of no shows without a hint of them not coming. The site was down this morning before I left to go somewhere prior, but that was at 9:30. Not sure when the site came back on but said posters haven't responded. Not going to name names because they are regulars and I'm sure there was a valid excuse.

I'd like to see another go at this or even a game against Collingwood or St.Kilda as I'm sick of playing Melbourne

I think from our end we need to mark the first Sunday after the Melbourne Cup as the weekend we play a forum game.

That way we ensure the highest possible attendance as it can be marked in.

I am sure Melbourne would be in and we will always get a couple of other teams interested.

Will work with Rollo to lock in a date in Feb and then make it an annual event.

Clubber,

No one let us down and as I said to Shag, I know those who didn't turn up would have a good reason. The site going down happened at the worst possible time.

No drama, mate.

hey, guys, thanks for the game...

it was a beauty, with lots of individual and team skills on display...

you guys hitting the lead with 6 minutes to go in the final, was a fantastic effort considering the sizes of the respective benches...

your time will undoubtedly come soon, especially if some people on here put their hands up to help barnesy out with the organising...

to the carlton blokes who did the organising on the day, congratulations, job well done...

great game played in great spirit, well done to both sides in a memorable final...

regards,

rollo

Well done boys - bad luck about the Dees game. I'm definitely keen to play in the next one of these - we have a work game on the Friday before the Grand Final every year. Unfortunately this year, while captaining the team, I managed to fracture my ankle during the third quarter, so wasn't able to play this game. Back up and about now and would definitely be keen in the future.

Not happy to have missed the first round robin... though it sounds like it was played in the right spirit and everyone had fun which is always the aim.

I'm having surgery to pin my scaphoid this Friday - assuming no complications should be right for a game in the New Year.

Credit again to all who spend valuable time organising these games. Awesome fun to run out for a game in a Carlton jumper...

Rollo

How about we mark down the first Sunday after each Melbourne Cup as a round robin day or forum game day?

If you guys are in and we are in we can firm it up with the other forums?

Also pick a date in late Jan or Feb (but must stipulate an early start due to possibility of hot days?)

My suggestion is:

November (Sunday after Melbourne Cup Day) - preferably round robin format

Third Sunday in February - 10 am start (due to possibility of hot weather)

If you are happy with that I will stir interest this end and ensure a base it set to work with.

By firming these dates up we heighten awareness through having concrete dates, which people then put in their calendars and work around, it is also easier to organise umpires etc....

Let me know please and I will take it up our end and work with you...

Barnesy

ps - i passed that exam and the unit

Great work, Barnesy.

Would you be interested in having a one off game with another forum prior to the end of the year?

First Sunday of December?
