As I mentioned at the time, the figure we are paying is somewhere around $110-130k per year for the next two years.
I was hoping it was going to be nada as well, but when you couple this with Stevens' salary we're still $1M up on last year and we now have two spots on the list freed up for guys committed to playing for the team.

Hey C'boy, I thought there had been media reports of the amount we are contributing being a 5 digit sum (ie less than 100k)
Also there was an early report that we are paying somewhere around 10% to 15% - which would indcate a figure under 100k.
Reading the situation from afar, it appears at we were not having to pay any of Fevs salary if we took the first deal (Bradshaw and Rischetelli) as that freed up Brisbanes Salary Cap. But when we got Hendo and 12, it was better for us but did not free up Brisbanes Cap, thus the need for us to pay some of Fevs $$$.
If the amount also represents funds that originally were backended then we have been fair in the trade consistent with Swans comments that being prepared to be fair in trades is a good option in the long run, as future negotiations with other clubs will be available if you are demonstrating that you are prepared to deal equitably.
The fact that the Burgoyne deal took so long and had to involve a mediator reflected on both Port Adelaides stubborness and Hawthorns reputation of doing the dirty in trades ala the Nathan Thompson trade with Kangaroos. Our recent deals with WCE for Judd, Melbourne for McLean and with Brisbane to offload Fev, appear to be deals that both sides could live with and not feel that they had been taken advantage off.
We just need all other clubs to appreciate how fair we are and leave Scully to pick 12 in appreciation of our fair minded aproach.
